If I were to attempt this, I'd probably just get a regular RC aircraft to start with and then rig something like this into the airframe. I'm sure there are cheaper solutions, but it would probably be one of the easiest.

Ahh well, it was worth a shot. I've actually been moving slowly away from FF myself since 3 came out, but for different reasons. I didn't know they had changed the way the bar worked that much. . . bugger.

Out of curiosity, what browser do you currently use?

Hmm..that's strange, because that's they way I have mine set and it is behaving like a normal url bar with regular old autocomplete on. None of this awesomebar nonesense.

    Aha...after some searching, found this:

First, go to your Firefox settings by putting "about:config" into the location bar. Click past the warning message, and scroll down to browser.urlbar.maxRichResults. This sets how many recommendations the Awesome Bar will display -- it's 12 by default, but you want to change it to 0.

    Set that to zero.

Easy, in the URL bar, type in about:config and find this:

    browser.urlbar.autoFill

Change it's value to false by double clicking on it. There, now your 'awesome bar' is a regular URL bar.

    You're welcome.

It feels so strange. I keep reading all of these "ZOMG teh crashes!!1one" horror stories about iTunes 8 and Vista, and yet I upgraded to 8 on Tuesday and have had not a single issue with it, my iPod, or my iPhone. AFAICT it even runs a little better than 7 did (granted, purely anecdotal...no testing done whatsoever).

Am I the aberration in this case, or are the vocal minority getting WAY out of hand again?

Actually there is a note taking app on the iPhone that works exactly like the swipe demo in that video. Unfortunately I can't recall the name of it at the moment, but my wife uses it all the time.

The implementation is there, now all that remains is to get other software makers to use it.

Hey, I know that Warhammer has been around for-freakin'-ever, but honestly, if you make a game based off of it in the same vein as WoW.....and then go and make it LOOK like WoW, wtf do they expect? I think they would have been better served by further differentiating it stylistically from the lowest-common-denominator game (WoW) that they are competing with. I'm in the beta, and I gotta say....unless you know about how the public quests and PvP works and how to get to them, your experience with the beginning levels of this game is going to be NO different than WoW.

I will now step off of my soapbox and let the War fans mod me down. ;-)

Well, since Apple has never stated anywhere that I can recall that they are trying to live up to F/OSS expectations, then they can be free of complaint from me, since I didn't expect anything more than what they provide.

Don't get me wrong, I'm all for F/OSS, but this just brings to mind a story I once heard about a toad, a scorpion, and a river.

  15. Re:For the Nth time... on FSF's "Defective By Design" Targets Apple Genius Bars · · Score: 1

The FSF does not try to take away your freedom of choice. It discourages you to use proprietary software because of all the drawbacks of proprietary software (i.e. you can not learn what exactly the software does, you can have antifeatures etc) and because Free Software needs a large user base so that you will not be forced to use proprietary software.

No proprietary software company forces any user to use their software. That is the choice of the user. If the user does not know about any of the other choices of software out there, that is not the fault of the proprietary software maker.
