Thanks for sharing your experience. This is something that I've been thinking of doing for months. I left Google in the place of startpage.com for search over 6 months ago and love it. Don't see why leaving Flash for good won't work. I am a professional web developer and PHP programmer and we refuse to code for flash anymore and are totally fine. Great writeup and glad to hear that it's working for you.

Love your post. You are exactly right. Wonder if that guy had ever heard of the FBI. Maybe he should have called them instead of his "repair" people.

Knowing the password for all free wifi networks will still allow people to do man in the middle attacks and I think that each network should have a password and display it (i.e. A business providing free wifi should encrypt, but have a sign within the business displaying the password).

  4. Windows Vista - So What? on Windows Vista RC1 Complete · · Score: 0, Flamebait

Who cares? I have been beta testing versions of Windows since Chicago (later came to be known as Windows 95). I have been using Vista for quite some time now and even though some things seem better such as the new start menu and the way that 3D rendering is handled, I am not blown away. I would much rather run Ubuntu Linux with Compiz and OpenGL. Vista is still bloatware and it will be really interesting to see how quick the OS is ridden with worms, spyware, and viruses. I for one don't plan on giving Microsoft more money for their software until they release an OS that is totally useful and original.

I don't know what your budget is, but it won't matter if you have same monitors or different ones. Use a colorimeter and it will calibrate your monitors and will create color management files for each of them.

Of course he will say that Microsoft's OS's are more secure. He works for the company and is in charge of that part of it. He would be crazy to say otherwise. On a personal note, none of the OS's are airtight with security. If you can make it, you can break it.

The show "The Screen Savers" on G4 Tech TV did a demonstration with this paint. It was successful with lowering the dB gain of the signal, but did not keep the signal contained. They used 4+ coats of the paint that has metal in it on a small room that resembled an old out house.
