How so? There's a long history of creationists wanting to suppress the teaching of evolution and science within the classroom. The Scopes Monkey trial, for example, highlights the lengths that this minority would go to (including legislating for an entire state) or otherwise attempting to mandate Intelligent Design's teaching. Surely it cannot be that unimportant, given that it required a court case to stop these people from teaching ID in the classroom.
If they're subject to the same laws as established media outlets, does that mean that they basically get all of the benefits without any of the risks? Because there's no standard for blogs to fact check their work.
I find this comment facetious. It's not like the Chinese don't value their athletes in the same way, just look at people like Yao Ming or Liu Xiang, two huge household names in China who make hundreds of millions off of sponsorships. Hell, they treat OUR NBA athletes like we do. Kobe is probably the most popular person in China. They only got more people because more people entered, and because it's very likely many more of them had the time to do this because they were unemployed.
Back in the day, and I mean way back when, work in the US government was considered a service to the country and not a means to make oneself rich.
Back then, only those who didn't need to work for a living (literally aristocrats) could participate in government. Unless you'd like to deny participation in the government to anyone who isn't already rich, there is no alternative.
The introduction of capitalism has managed to rocket China from an impoverished post-WWII and post civil-war famine-plagued disaster into the modern China of today in under thirty years.
Right, because the solution to a ridiculously expensive problem is another problem that is equally ridiculously expensive and far more likely to result in hazardous filings.
Next time, check BEFORE you secure the trademark to see if it's already available.
Even if they did check it wasn't like they could change what they were trying to trademark. I mean, their trademark had two parts: "Chicago" and "2016". They can't really change either (unless you think they could warp time and/or rename Chicago just for the Olympics).
I think you're remembering wrong. You most likely are recalling an event whereby New Mexico passed a resolution declaring Pluto a planet because it had been discovered by a person from that state, not the US federal government lobbying the IAU.
No, I'm saying that I'm not offended at the idea that Chinese eat dogs, because they don't do it more than any other country, while he's saying that I'm offended because Chinese people eat dogs. I'm offended at the racist assumption that all Chinese people eat dogs, which isn't true.
I'm not offended at it "because it happens", because it doesn't. I'm offended that you'd make such a claim.
Of course, you're right. Individuals with at least some restraints imposed on them make mistakes. Thus, individuals without any restraints at all will be perfect arbiters of justice. You know, since the only thing stopping them from being perfect, omnipotent just beings have been the restraints place on the legal system.
This is a little like saying that civilian oversight doesn't always prevent the military from making mistakes, so there shouldn't be any oversight at all.
No, it's not justice. Justice is being given what you're due. He wasn't due death, he was due prison time and a huge fine. I'm not saying we should mourn him, but applauding the Russian Mafia for what they did isn't the right thing either.
By your logic, if a person at a DMV "wastes" people's time for long enough, then killing him is okay. Traffic lights waste our time, and thus should be removed. Your post, which doesn't actually justify killing well, has wasted 30 seconds of my time, and 30 seconds of anyone who reads it. Given that millions on slashdot might read this, you just wasted all of our times. Does that mean we can kill you?
You seriously need to learn what morals are. Just because he was a spammer doesn't mean he should have been murdered.

Unlike poker, the rules of the games are altered based on the current knowledge about the state of the game.
Poker, like baseball, hockey, and every other game, alters its rules based on the current knowledge about the state of the game.

Fixed that for you.

So is Adobe Reader and RealPlayer, both of which are included in the Google Pack.

This is only in the US by the way, most other countries do not view corporations as people.
Actually most other countries also view corporations as artificial people. It's kind of a characteristic of being a corporation.
Except Greenland's in the north, and it has a lot of ice itself.
So...Greenland's ice melts and coastal towns are flooded. Granted, it's not as much as the South Pole's, but it'd still probably be significant.
Clyde William Tombaugh, a lifelong resident of New Mexico, however, made the actual discovery (that is, using a telescope he saw the planet).

I'm not pissed off because I'm offended that Chinese people supposedly eat dogs, I'm pissed off because everyone assumes that Chinese people eat dogs.
All women like cock, or is that a stereotype?
Apparently, the phrase "lesbian" is absent from your vocabulary.
It's not exactly a common practice in the cities, and it's more of the fact that makes the instant assumption that dog + chinese = dinnertime.
Or, perhaps it's a Chinese person who is sick of the stereotypes. But hey, you're an idiot, so you must know best.
Hurray. Yet another racist slashdot comment.
If you like Dodd's move, then don't just contact his office and express support, vote for him in the Democratic primaries.
Neither is a reliance on inherently flawed human beings.

Just because that kind of behavior is going to happen doesn't make it good, or right, or just. It's not "common justice", it's just revenge.
