Well there's an understatement. What with the wish list that Sony has put into this thing's development - being the center of your home entertainment universe with the cell technology....I'd certainly expect nothing less than a screaming V-12 under the PS3's hood.
What I wish they would let on about is the prospects of the PS3 having a DVD burner and/or a DVR type of device in it like the PSX, or whether the PS3 will have different "models"
Base: "Mecha high polygons (MHP)" for gaming only LS: "MHP with DVR" for gaming, recording your gameplay and television shows, and being able to transfer those recordings to other devices on your home network SS: "MHP, DVR, DVD writer" for all those techie "musclehead" equivalents;)
Yeah - that WAS what I was thinking re: the fifth value....but the more I think of it, the more I think it can't be done. It'd have to be base 4....the peptides (yeah yeah, not protiens) need a partner with which to bind, so a NULL would not really work it seems to me.
Now - if I recall correctly, each base can only pair with one other base - so that the quaternary digits would be foreced to come in specific pairs, limiting somewhat the gain of a base 4 system I would guess.
Anyway - thanks for the clarification...it's nice to see it done in a constructive manner (and you didn't karma yourself up to do it either;p )
seems to me that this would be the big benefit, that rather than base 2 for data storage, you could use base 5, with each slot value as 0, 1, 2, 3, or 4 based on having no protien, a, g, t, or c in the "slot" - giving a larger number of values (and therefpre addresses) per slot
(base 5, would the 'slots' be called "quints" - not sure)
I would wonder - though, how quickly data transfer would really be....cell replication takes awhile because the DNA splicing takes a long time, right?
you nailed it - it's refreshing to see an article that "bitches" about inferior products, but offers links to superior alternatives, esp. on the web, where most "info" articles that talk about how something is not good involve bashing and perhaps some talk of lawsuits or Senator Palpatine-like behaviors
yeah, it was id who caused Columbine, ok maybe Hollywood and Woody Harrelson share some of the blame
Why not fine the parents of deviant/violent kids when their kids partake of mature movies/games etc. without supervision? (That would give a whole new meaning to "It's 10:00 p.m., do you know where your children are?" wouldn't it?)
People complain about the Patriot Act, but this is about as Orwellian as it gets folks, the state is passing laws that make sure MERCHANTS dictate your children's behavior...a good state mandate would be that the parents are responsible for their kids behavior when it's all said and done.
Or some other aptly named mini-version of Thunderbird for a handheld. I care much more about being able to synching my mail and calendar to my PDA via a bluetooth or wifi connection than I do about browsing the web.
And enough with HotSynch already - now that these toys are wifi enabled, let's use regular file transfer methods and regular mail protocols to transfer this information - as if it were a hand sized laptop...
...doing it your way doesn't mean there will be a smaller percentage of blithering idiots who will take advantage. Whether MS,/., or Mother Teresa's Sister's of Charity started an open access blog service, it's going to be generally incoherent rants of the small minded who think they are important because they now have a blog page.
Hell, perhaps it's a good thing, let all the people realize that they are NOT Drudge or Maddox with this service, and then maybe this new buzzword in our vocabulary will settle back down once this project reaches post-apex and fades back into obscurity.
With this lawsuit result, I would imagine that Valve and Viviendi may be going their separate ways in the future. What would this mean for the gamer?
Will Steam allow Valve to pretty much be its own publisher? Think about the fact that Viviendi is a middleman, delivering the packaged game to those of us who bought the actual box and CDs.
Do those of us who purchased via Steam actually seen any benefit at all from Valve's relationship with Viviendi? I don't think so, all we saw was a publishing house dictated price. A price that included overhead costs for box and CD printing (and design etc) that we will never see.
I think it'll be interesting to see if this suit brings Valve to a pub-less distribution method, and if we as gaming consumers will see the cost benefit when the middleman is officially eliminated.
damn man, when are you guys gonna put ME on Sealab 2021? Chillybott will wreck the humans in the human versus robot wars!
I'll turn Shanks into a hilarious ADD dumbass like Murphy was by teh time I'm through
