And since everyone is claiming that research using these stems sells will cure every known ailment, the major drug companies should be fighting each other to give money to every last researcher.
Oh wait... they're not? And the $4 billion in funding in California was heavily pushed and lobied for by the private research companies who will be getting the funding?
That's what I've been wondering about too. Does this newer tech have some inherent advantage over the hidden iframe method? Is it just more structured?
The treaty was defeated in the US senate 98-0 (or was it 98-2).
It makes no sense for the US to sign while countries like China get to hide behind "developing nation" status. Russia only signed it because they will be able to sell their unused pollution quota for billions of dollars each year.
Rugged -- TALON robots can take a punch and stay in the fight. One was blown off the roof of a Humvee in Iraq recently while the Humvee was crossing a bridge over a river. TALON flew off the bridge and plunged into the river below. Soldiers later used its operator control unit to drive the robot back out of the river and up onto the bank so they could retrieve it.
These museums, with very few exceptions are almost purely supported with government funds. They just can't make back the cost of upkeep, much less salaries, on the few dollars they make through admission fees.
That is almost entirely false, at least for the SMM. It has a yearly budget of ~$25 million. Of that, $750,000 is government money. The rest is from ticket/food/merchandise sales (roughly $20 million) and private/corporate donations (~$4 million). See here - warning PDF.
It does use some federal money for special projects, but those usually only total $3 - $5 million each year.
f I want to read left wing propaganda I'd pick up the NY Times
Or listen to Off the wall or whatever the radio show is called. Seems they devote half the show now to planning a protest over something or bemoan the horrible practices of the giant corporations.
Correct. There are many instances when speech is limited. Business practices are one of those (other notable ones include the oft cited example of yelling "Fire!" in a crowded theater).
Otherwise they get credit, but the blurb is rewritten to be less likely to be flamebait?
Or, if you're Michael, you can just rewrite the blurb any damn way you please.
the discussion of slashdot editors is off the topic of a new phone network (or whatever this thing is)
And, since you have the PC open, you might as well take the HD! And the memory. And, if he has a nice video card, grab that as well.
Curing/preventing Alzheimer's disease isn't profitable?
What person, aged 50-80, wouldn't take drugs that would stop them from getting Alzheimer's?

3) What are the benefits of this compared to using a hidden iframe and using that to talk back and forth to the server?

Now, what options do I want?
Gripper manipulator.
Smoke dropping module.
Grenade dropping module.
Breaching tool.
Gen III night vision camera.
NBC sensors.
UXO/countermine systems/sensors.
Anti-Tank (AT4) launcher.
Light Anti-Tank Weapon (LAW) launcher.
40-mm grenade launcher (M203 barrel).
12-gauge shotgun.
Mounts for remotely controlled weapons including: M240; M249: M16; M82A1 (50-cal).

that doesn't show up on most technical sites because most "tech" sites pander to not-so-technical individuals.
Case in point: Slashdot
Horrible makefiles haunt my dreams. I've had nightmares about them...

And don't have it red. Have it black. People, especially kids, love pushing that damn red button, no matter how many warning signs you put around it.
