    That was probably because even MS couldn't decide what it was.

    Example: Windows Server 2003 was originally named Windows Server .NET, then Windows Server .NET 2003, then Windows Server 2003.

    Speaking of nice features: the lasso-select in this thing is pretty kick ass. Does any other software have similar real time highlighting of the selected area for the lasso?

    FYI:
    Program also works on Windows 2000 with .NET 1.1 installed.
    First impressions: sure beats MS Paint :)

    Photoshop costs a big pile of money.

    Any gueses on the percentage of Slashdotters who paid for their personal copy of Photoshop?

    If it was above 1% I'd be very suprised.

    The source is readily available on their website (well, once the slashdotting is over). Most (all?) of the work was done by students, not be MS.

    By your logic, I used to be fairly liberal, now I'm fairly conservative. I guess that means (by your logic again) that you have a lot of reading to do, bud. Best start now.

    If you go far enough to the left you'd feel that the WashPost is a conservative newspaper.

    Just like some people probably think the Wash Times is a liberal newspaper because they're far enough to the right.

    actually - this study seems to be anything but conclusive. The researchers of course need 4-5 more years to figure out if they really actually figured out anything to begin with.

    Another case of people reading the headline and news blurb and not the underlying information.

    How so? If you're just passively listening to lots of stuff there is no increase in the amount of traffic. A man in the middle technique, for example.

    good thing computers can't search text or audio (or video with facial recognition), otherwise the minority would be able to watch the majority

    ah, yes, that is correct

    I just got my ipod and am really suprised there aren't more playlist features. To me the ipod interface seems a little too dumbed down.

    I know I know ... they want you to use itunes more.. ugh

    The Zen allows on the fly playlists -- not sure about the iPod, since I don't own one, but I think I remember reading that you can't...?

    The iPod has a "on the go" playlist
    simply hold down the button on a song/artist/whatever and it adds it to the "on the go" playlist

    Scion is owned by Toyota and was started last year - true
    Geo was a Chevy brand, made by Suzuki - true, plus toyota
    Toyota owns Lexus and was started in ~1990 (at least here in the US) - first US models were 1990 (I believe) - true

    On the appliance side, BorderWare was a pretty clear favorite. Although it didn't top other appliance-based anti-spam solutions in every category, it showed excellent design and implementation throughout our testing.

    Read: it had a pretty box and didn't require us to actually read a manual to get it to work
