But you made a small mistake - I think you used the URL tag which ocasionally haves slashcode inserting spaces in the middle of the url (it tries to avoid very long "words"). So everyone eliminate the space between "Impact" and "Countdown".
Now that I've written this... Where do I think I am, in some gastronomy internet forum?:|
Yeah, I've always thought that it must be pretty difficult to combine multiple submissions about the same story into one, which does happen from time to time. It seems that the editors are quite good at peeking at the submission queue, but not at knowing what the previously approved submissions were (which would be easier in my opinion).
I don't think a dupe needs to be done twice in order to be true. That being said, I've never seen any redupes, but it would be quite interesting to see one:)
Of course I took the moment to read it, and as you said it's a similar situation to the one you pointed out. Eh, nevermind, after all this is not real, it's just Star Wars:)
I've seen your page and the benchmarks are very interesting:)
But I have some doubts about the quality of the CPU benchmark - qsort has some performance problems, since it involves calling a function indirectly through a pointer for every comparison made, and it supports variable size elements, etc... Besides, for sorting integers maybe sorting methods not based on comparisons would be better, this would have to be tested though. Did you try other sorting methods or a custom quicksort routine?
Quicksort finishes just fine in nlogn time for all input sets EXCEPT those specially-crafted to work badly on quicksort. For any data set of more than about 20 elements, the odds of getting a data set specially ordered to take n^2 time in quicksort are infitesimally small (unless someone has specially set the data up in that "takes a long time" order).
Yeah, but I imagine that the chance of the algorithm taking between O(n log n) and O(n^2) time is much greater... But since I'm not a quicksort expert, I did some quick search and perhaps I'm wrong
Maybe I'm misinterpreting something, but according to that definition, Mace Windu could be using Sith abilities too, despite having a very long training and being one of the most regarded Jedi...
I admire your fight, writing so much in reply to posts like this... But it's pretty much senseless, or maybe not since it probably gives those who read it more arguments to fight the senseless banther we are all used to hear about...
My theory is - let's keep advancing science, let's get out of Earth in order for our species to be safe from some random cataclysm happening at this planet, and one day, if a god exists, maybe we'll know about him... Or maybe not. For all we know, we could be sentient beings in the newest game that god's playing:) Oh btw, if this guy is right, maybe some of us here will be able to witness this with some luck;)
Nice idea, maybe I'll do the same :)

Yeah, but then the amoeba would mutate into a dangerous being...
Here it is
:)
I hope it's correct
Statements like yours belong in the category of "famous last words".
And the best part - it's modded at +5 already :D
Yeah, they can pretty much block popups and about everything else which is displayed on a computer screen...
So what do the people who write incorrectly claim to speak and write? Their own version of English? Because I see each one doing different mistakes...
Where I come from, we usually end sentences with a period... Please be attentive.

Lol :D
First time someone comments on my hard-earned lessons (depression, as you might have guessed)
Google released a dupe checker for slashdot stories?
Thanks :)
;)
Who knows indeed... I never thought about it that way :) /me memorizes this one in order to tell it to friends
Yeah, you really have won a war with islamic fanatics. Do you really believe that?

Geez, I never thought that they had the money or the nerve to do this (I'm so naive...). Not that it amazes me too much, but you see what I mean.
I wouldn't be happy to know that my taxpayer money was being spent on this, if my country did this kind of shit.
Are you this this guy?
An email I just sent to the authors:

Maybe he was joking? Or maybe not...

This has reminded me of this joke
