    What in the fucking world makes you think open source means an end to review?

    You must think no software gets reviewed such as the alternative. Otherwise I have to accuse of being inexplicably biased.

    It's like some black cloud forms when you see the words open source and lightning strikes the first thought that comes to mind.

    So create a better open source business bureau.
    I think we call those mailing lists, maybe you've heard of them.

    I can say that linux-kernel list contains the most hotly debated content and commentary I've ever seen.

    The thing generates several megs of text a week.

    Judging that an 80x25 xterm contains a maximum of 400 characters and that most messages on the list fit in about ten of them, 1 meg = 250 messages. That doesn't usually include code only links to it as the message is mostly an over view and the discussion is in the code comments.

    A friend of mine can't bear CDs. They sound like sand in his ears to him. It's not the sample that's important. Music is about change and motion or even lack of it but never about the sample. While Digital records samples like snaphsots people listen to melodies. Or even lack of. Hmm gives me ideas...

    Banner ads don't work. How many times have you clicked?

    Advertising is a bullshit business that's only plausible w/ an unconscious audience. Do you go buying a car after every ad you see? Do you go clicking at everything that pops on a page? I'd hope not.

    Slashdot became big because of the content which ironically is the reader comments and the support of readers' needs.

    Not viewing ads means I'm saving myself aggravation and distraction. I'm obviously not going to click anyway. And please relax. My ad blocking affects only me.

    Just check out the TiVo. They reported 80% of ads were being skipped.

    If you have a product you'll make money. If you don't what the hell are you doing trying to sell?

    The whole reason recycling is a good idea is that there is a limited supply of material, of disposal space, and thresholds where contamination becomes poisonous. Exceed those bounds and you've got trouble.

    Unfortunately some think this calls for worship to Gaia and certain social attitudes rather than rational thought and action.
