  1. Re:The Weather on Canada Moves to Keep Skilled Workers · · Score: 1

Actually it's -10 to -13 degrees celsius. So usually they pick the grapes as soon as it drops low enough. Don't get me wrong, it does get that cold, but on average it's very rare.

  2. The Weather on Canada Moves to Keep Skilled Workers · · Score: 1

I for one, can say that in the Okanagan region of BC, that summer is around 30 - 40 degrees Celsius, with winter temperatures seldom reaching below -10. Hardly terrible weather.

  3. Think of the possibilities... on Mad Scientist Invents Colored Bubbles · · Score: 3, Interesting

Like a man made rainbow, practical jokes that only last 30 seconds. Truly impressive, though I wonder what the cost of the chemical reagents required is, lactone rings are fairly expensive to synthesize if I recall my organic chemistry correctly.

  4. Re:This is such bullshit. on DNA For Information Processing and Data Storage · · Score: 1

This would be scary... what if some ingenious sabateur were to walk into the server room with a small item.. like a UV light or a small can of an intercalating agent... You could even pump a retrovirus into the computer with little effort.. imagine The next generation of hackers are going to be molecular biologists who spend their free time coding.

  5. Why is it that.. on Editorial: On the SpikeTV Video Game Awards · · Score: 1

these "game gods" believe that it is their right to give awards to games that please skater punks, rap music players, and other members of society who are obviously not the biggest gamers. I would appreciate it if games actually won for things like graphics, gameplay, interface.. but no. Now it seems to win an award at this show one is required to release a game that has more than 20 endorsements, appeals to "cool high school kids" and has almost zero chance of winning vs. games that are actually innovative and push the genre further. //Rant over.

  6. Ahh Sony... on How Sony's HD Audio Player Falls Short · · Score: 1

Ahh Sony. how far you have fallen. I remember the days when I could enjoy the knowledge that my Trinitron CRT was the best TV out there. Now Sony is home to crappy proprietary audio formats and junky audio players too... Whats Happened?

  7. Re:It all boils down to DRM on The Future of Digital Audio · · Score: 1

The days are soon coming when the ability to rip your music will be available... but only at an extra cost. It's sad that we are going to have to likely pay fees for having OUR music in a digital format..

  8. Seems useful on Portable Firefox and Thunderbird · · Score: 2, Interesting

This is really handy for those cases where you want to take your customized browser with you. Using the bookmarks off my thumb-drive I never have to worry anymore. Not to mention I can take this to the library or wherever I want and I can use firefox there isntead. An excellent idea.
