    I am the head of a US TV network and you are in your first meeting with me. You want to offer ala cart TV content to just anyone? Are you mad? I already have agreements about exclusivity with regional TV stations. And there is just no fucking way I am going to let you allow that shit out of the US... do you have any *fucking* idea about the agreements we have with overseas networks? Your fucking dreaming! Get the fuck out of my office and come back when you are prepared to be more reasonable like netflix, apple and google!

    To be fair netflix are a new competitor for them. I think the head of netflix said something along the lines of : netflix needs to figure out how to be HBO before HBO figures out how to be netflix.

    My missus does the same thing and it works for her. I tried it after being impressed by it and I coudln't see any improvement for me... memory is a funny thing. My missus remembers phone numbers by remembering the pattern of pushing the buttons on a phone... she will even mime typing the number to recall it. That doesn;t work for me at all... I remember phone numbers by breaking them into sub groups and remembering those.

    The emergency override function could be a whole lot better than what we have now. It could notify the surrounding cars that there is an emergency situation and have them clear the road... it could notify the police and hospital of the situation and have them prepare.

    I would assume that an override situation woudl entail the car notifying the authorities and recordign what is going on. So if you SO is havign a heart attack and you rush them to hospital then you can sort that out with the polie after the fact.

    And that will be a great day. Humans shoudl not be driving cars as they suck at it. The US alone has 11 millino accidents a year and about 30,000 people are killed in these.

    My TV/Internet package comes with a phone. I can;t get rid of it. I use it for maybe ordering pizza once and a while.... but now I do that online. I don;t use it at all now but can;t get rid of it.

    It was also primarily the New Dealers as they were called that went over to Japan post war to try to help reconstruct Japan as a functioning democratic state. They were wildly successful but everyone has forgotten that.

    I don;t live in the US so don't even have an option for HBO... but there is the problem... Game of Thrones is broadcast on a channel here that has an agreement with HBO that they have the right to show Game of Thrones. I enjoy a lot of HBO programming and would happily pay for some kind of online subscription with them but they simply can;t offer that.

    In QNX there are several "supervisor" drivers that other drivers talk to via messaging(a special kind of memory messaging". I used to write drivers for QNX2 and 4... if one of my drivers crashed from say a null reference it would just crash and I could restart it. Also drivers generally didn't run in ring 0... I think on 386 arch it was ring 2 or 3... which meant I coudl also run drivers in the standard debugger.

    In QNX *most* drivers drivers will not crash the OS.

    There are other industries that still make heavy use of 232 and 485. I used to work in security monitoring, access control and fire alarm and control. There is a metric butt ton of 232 and 485 cable in the world that runs all that stuff. Alarm monitoring and (especially) fire monitoring/control care about one thing and one thing only : It has to be reliable... not sexy... not new... reliable or people burn to death.
