Corey makes some good points. Facebook is better than MySpace. Maybe we can take his suggestions and make something better than Facebook. Different types of relationships (ie not just bidirectional friends) would be a start.
How about plugging them into each other with USB, etc. They could exchange tokens. Then future Bluetooth communication would be pretty secure. Oh wait, that's too sane.
I recall reading that this administration was already using an obscurely named.com site for email for this very reason. The other effect of this rule -- future presidents won't use email but IMs or IR blasting, etc.
If you are, say, 40 and going to live to 100. You have 60 years. 5M / 60 = 83,333 a year. Not bad. Plus the 40K interest which would be less each year.
I was hoping they had a daemon we could volunteer to run. All the daemons would create a mesh which would be used to measure ISPs speed automatically. Any unfairness would be quickly spotted. Who knows maybe the mesh could even be used to escape a limiting ISP?

That's world class brains for ya! No way a spam harvest bot is going to decode that. That's why they get the big bucks.
I think the best part is... it's a blog that people actually read. When I post stuff on my Facebook profile nearly all of my (Facebook) Friends! They sometimes comment - that is great. When I had a blog before it seemed that nobody read it. Of course, the downside is that I have to read their posts too:)
Its this mutual blogging that's the best for me.
I am sure it could be done with RSS and FOAF. I would love to get out of Facebook's garden.
The summaries ended in 2006...

Does that mean the future is over?
I always assumed this was already done. And even before 9/11.

Nice to see footnotes in a Slashdot posting.
SUV = SU(3)xSU(2)xU(1).
Where SUV is the standard model from Ford.
I meant it would be nice to be rid of X Windows. Sorry bout that.

Looks like a reasonable OS for a desktop.
Would be nice to be rid of X.
Plus you should re-invest some income to keep up with inflation. Because $40K in 20 years will be worth even less.
Automate the testing (of the algorithms).
If he's impeached does he get his pension?

Its near the middle of the country. The datacenter will be in the suburbs or further out (I bet) so land cost isn't a big deal.
The Facebook API let's you (the developer) pick between JSON or XML.
The article mentioned first Word Processor too.
In a reasonable system there is no way somebody can be convicted of murder without a body.
They are only talking about an upgrade to javaScript ... to EC4.
It only makes sense for all browsers to support it.

Each candidate could send the person to the debate who they would appoint as National Science Adviser.
Why not, he knows his stuff. Most famous science guy in the country.
