I like to see wired vs. wireless networking duking it out. Wireless has increased security and range lately. But then Wired has gigabit! Who will be the winner! Stay tuned.
There are lots of non-US-government systems that a re critical: hospitals, banks, air traffic control, etc. And anyways, the important patches non-a-days relate to keeping out Internet intruders. Hopefuly the miltary systems aren't on the public net!
No doubt you are American -- you don't say it... but reading between the lines you seem to be saying only the USA can set precedents... or matters. A dictionary defination of precedent is:
"something done or said that may serve as an example"
Why can this not serve as an example for other countries?
If you ask me this is something that deserves a patent. Unlike one-click shopping, etc. I'd be happy to pay royalties for when I eventually buy a CPU with it.
Sometimes in a dicucssion somebody might say "I don't want to get into semantics". I always want to yell - "why worry about the meaning of things - it'll just cloud things".
Running Microsoft programs is the hardest for Wine because they use secret function calls. The Virus writers (presumably) aren't insiders so don't know about the secret APIs. Should be easy for Wine.
I'm sure it'll be super-secure since there will be no buggy software for it (actually no software). There won't be an worms or virus either! Just one problem - it can't do anything useful either.
