Actually this is quite correct. It proves that there are very
few ideas obtained by the scientific method that are "completely wrong".
Since there is no such thing as an absolute frame of
reference, it is possible to construct a working model of the Universe
that is centered around earth. The problem is that it would be an
incomplete picture, and not be able to explain many cosmological
observations at high redshifts (things that happened before the Earth
existed). Another problem with the geocentric theories was the implicit
assumption that the only interactions that determined the motion of
heavenly bodies were those between the bodies and earth, there was no
mention of mutual interactions where the earth wasn't involved, which
would be stronger and thus involve motion that does not center around
earth (like binary star systems, distant galaxies moving away from
'earth', instead of spinning around it, and stuff)
Likewise, the caloric theory of heat (in
conjunction with Phlogiston) was not completely wrong either. It so
happens that heat does have some fluidic properties, and can even have
a vorticity and obey the Navier-Stokes Equation in nonequilibrium
systems (the problem with caloric theory is very subtle, and involves
the assumtion that heat is a massive mode,conserved like particle
number in a canonical or grand canonical ensemble, which is wrong).
Even the awful theory of "Phrenology" has a few things that are true.
If you get a nasty bump in your head, you can get brain damage and thus
become dumber.
My point is that any idea or conclusion obtained by the
proper application of the scientific method is rarely complete garbage.
Just that sometimes, it's not the whole story, and parts of said theory
might be off. The religious people do not use the scientific method to
obtain their theories, so they have no basis in truth.

Ever try to 'really' install stuff on windoze (not just the usual IM crap). There's dependencies there too (.NET framework, etc). Not to mention you pay $$$ for some hi-fallutin' software in windoze & it BSOD's your computer.
The truth is that the many advantages offerred by Linux (no virus hassles, built-in firewall, less bloated, more drivers built into the module trees of precompiled kernels of most distros, seamless support for OSS, automatic package dependency downloading/installing, fully customizable GUI's and Desktops etc) compensate for the few pointy clickys that linux doesn't have.
If you just want to use your computer for standard everyday tasks, most distros come with bundled packages for those things, and you shouldn't have to do anything,
Grandma puts in the CD, clicks the "install" button. The program rewrites the firewall rules , starts broadcasting 10 Trojan horse servers and changes the tcp wrappers file to redirect all urls to gay pron.

I've been using this
"cooler" (Zalman ZM-2HC2
) of Zalman's to cool and quieten my SCSI hdd. It does a good job of
quietening it (the rubber dampers do damp out the noise well). But the
cooling's poor. It cools by conduction through the Al frame and
radiates it away on the tubes, but the cooling rate's evidently too
slow for SCSI hdd's anyway (may work better with IDE-hdd's). While the
reserator is a different kind of cooling system, I'm still a bit
skeptical about it's effectiveness in high-end systems that are
overclocked. I've asked around in hardware forums and many are of the
opinion that, in the final analysis, there is no substitute for good
old fashioned airflow (you can use strategically mounted low CPM 13db
case fans if you want a quiet PC).
While this is true, bear in mind that winxp is even worse
with 'non-standard' setups. I have a mixed IDE-SCSI system, AND an
onboard Video Card (disabled in BIOS) + PCI Video Card setup. My SCSI
controller is an Siig AP_series one, and just about every current
version of every distro that I've tried (Mandriva, Fedora, Ubuntu,
Knoppix) had the atp8170u driver that was needed to get it to work. In
contrast, windoze install cd didn't, so I had to create a driver floppy
(who'd thought I'd need a FLOPPY drive in this day & age
anyway, why can't windoze installer read off of a USB thumb
drive or something? Linux CD's can.). Also, getting my ATI Radeon to
work in windoze involved my fishing out the 'driver cd' after my winxp
BSOD'ed trying to use some generic driver, whereas, in Mandriva, I just
had to download fglrx from a repo while X was running on vesa, then
config it and restart X. Worked fine.
Overall, most Linux distros do better with slightly more
sophisticated hardware setups than winxp.

Actually this is quite correct. It proves that there are very few ideas obtained by the scientific method that are "completely wrong".
Since there is no such thing as an absolute frame of reference, it is possible to construct a working model of the Universe that is centered around earth. The problem is that it would be an incomplete picture, and not be able to explain many cosmological observations at high redshifts (things that happened before the Earth existed). Another problem with the geocentric theories was the implicit assumption that the only interactions that determined the motion of heavenly bodies were those between the bodies and earth, there was no mention of mutual interactions where the earth wasn't involved, which would be stronger and thus involve motion that does not center around earth (like binary star systems, distant galaxies moving away from 'earth', instead of spinning around it, and stuff)
Likewise, the caloric theory of heat (in conjunction with Phlogiston) was not completely wrong either. It so happens that heat does have some fluidic properties, and can even have a vorticity and obey the Navier-Stokes Equation in nonequilibrium systems (the problem with caloric theory is very subtle, and involves the assumtion that heat is a massive mode,conserved like particle number in a canonical or grand canonical ensemble, which is wrong). Even the awful theory of "Phrenology" has a few things that are true. If you get a nasty bump in your head, you can get brain damage and thus become dumber.
My point is that any idea or conclusion obtained by the proper application of the scientific method is rarely complete garbage. Just that sometimes, it's not the whole story, and parts of said theory might be off. The religious people do not use the scientific method to obtain their theories, so they have no basis in truth. The truth is that the many advantages offerred by Linux (no virus hassles, built-in firewall, less bloated, more drivers built into the module trees of precompiled kernels of most distros, seamless support for OSS, automatic package dependency downloading/installing, fully customizable GUI's and Desktops etc) compensate for the few pointy clickys that linux doesn't have.
If you just want to use your computer for standard everyday tasks, most distros come with bundled packages for those things, and you shouldn't have to do anything,

It's not supposed to, but bear in mind that entanglement is (apparently) a violation of causality, which is the essence of relativity.
If I have 2 spin 1/2 particles, spaced 20,000 light-years apart, their kets still superpose instantaneously (with no informational lag when I make one measurement at one point in space), so that's transmitting information superluminally. There's demonstrations that only noise can be transferred this way, not coherent information, and that's a possible workaround. But it's still an apparent violation of causality. However, there's nothing possibly wrong with quantum mechanics. It's the most proven theory in the history of all science. So entanglement & causality are a bit of a pickle.
I've been using this "cooler" (Zalman ZM-2HC2 ) of Zalman's to cool and quieten my SCSI hdd. It does a good job of quietening it (the rubber dampers do damp out the noise well). But the cooling's poor. It cools by conduction through the Al frame and radiates it away on the tubes, but the cooling rate's evidently too slow for SCSI hdd's anyway (may work better with IDE-hdd's). While the reserator is a different kind of cooling system, I'm still a bit skeptical about it's effectiveness in high-end systems that are overclocked. I've asked around in hardware forums and many are of the opinion that, in the final analysis, there is no substitute for good old fashioned airflow (you can use strategically mounted low CPM 13db case fans if you want a quiet PC).

While this is true, bear in mind that winxp is even worse with 'non-standard' setups. I have a mixed IDE-SCSI system, AND an onboard Video Card (disabled in BIOS) + PCI Video Card setup. My SCSI controller is an Siig AP_series one, and just about every current version of every distro that I've tried (Mandriva, Fedora, Ubuntu, Knoppix) had the atp8170u driver that was needed to get it to work. In contrast, windoze install cd didn't, so I had to create a driver floppy (who'd thought I'd need a FLOPPY drive in this day & age anyway, why can't windoze installer read off of a USB thumb drive or something? Linux CD's can.). Also, getting my ATI Radeon to work in windoze involved my fishing out the 'driver cd' after my winxp BSOD'ed trying to use some generic driver, whereas, in Mandriva, I just had to download fglrx from a repo while X was running on vesa, then config it and restart X. Worked fine.
Overall, most Linux distros do better with slightly more sophisticated hardware setups than winxp.

You can't judge the demerits of murder by the number of people that the murderers killed. That's too simplistic. As I maintain, the Nazis didn't just kill people, they tried to eradicate an entire way of life from the present as well as the past. They tried to erase the existence of the Jewish civilization from ALL recorded history. They did this for a reason. Christianity is not part of Asian culture. It is a foreign influence that has infected our countries like a disease. I have nothing against Philippine people per-se, but I see them, and other christians in China, India etc. as patients infected by a sickness. You don't punish people for being sick. I don't blame them for causing it or spreading it. It's certainly not the fault of Phillipine people that they were forced to convert at gunpoint by evangelical Americans.
The blame for causing the disease of Christianity goes right on the European lap. I have no problem with Asian christians living out in Asia, as long as the disease doesn't spread further.
