I disagree with the general assumption that violent games are the cause of violent behavior in the first place. The bill bases some criteria on "contemporary local community standards". Does this mean that what is acceptable in Detroit is not acceptable in smaller towns? Too many variables for what I perceive as a non-solution anyway.
I'm with you here all the way.
I disagree that the government should get involved with issues that should be a parent's job. Who defines what is "ultra-violent"?
Hmmm. I'm viewing these video game restrictions in the same light that I'm viewing movie restrictions. I think it's okay for the government to restrict minors' access to R and NC-17 rated movies. And, while I share your concerns about who defines what is and isn't offensive (the movie rating system, for example, has some serious issues), a parent can always accompany their child to the store to buy that video game or movie.
The investment will be worth it, trust me. You'll understand when you're sitting on the train, hunched over a 2.5-inch LCD screen enjoying that rerun of Everybody Loves Raymond, and feeling sorry for those poor saps who still have to read or even talk to pass the time.
How much power do processors use relative to the rest of the computer? It seems that hard drives and fans would use the majority of power (not to mention monitors and speakers if present).

# IMDb has given nothing back to the community; rather it takes from the community (the poor) and gives to a large e-tailer (the rich).
YEAH! I'm sick of this. When are they going to seed all of the movies they have info on, huh? Seriously. Give something back, already! And while you're at it, take down all of those ads! No, I don't want to buy in to your subscription service to help support your site! Give something back to the community! This is supposed to be a free site!
Soccer field sized cameras, tiny robots for planetary surface investigation, an infrared observatory on the moon, giant, laser-trapped mirrors in space...
Having recently watched Independence Day, I can say that I'm relieved that NASA is finally getting around to that RFDEW (Really F#*king Distant Early Warnings) system I've been proposing for years.
I think you and the rest of the "personal responsibility" crowd are missing his point. He's saying that, at this point in time, our information is out there. Whether we put it out there ourselves or whether it was stolen from some organization or whatever. It's out there.
Now if a bank intends to hold me responsible for payments on a credit card, that bank better make damn sure that the credit card has been requested by and given to me. Right now, according to Mr. Schneier, that isn't happening.
And let's not forget that it's the victim who, to a large extent, takes the responsibility for clearing their credit record which has been smeared by the irresponsible actions of both a criminal and some financial institution.
Is it the spirit of the bill or the implementation that you disagree with?
Those aren't moons. Those are space stations.
Imagine hotboxing it.

Should they be fined for knowingly allowing this machine to send spam?
I think I'd have less faith in humanity if articulate, educated folks were filling out job applications for fast food chains.
You had me at "freak lawn mowing accident."
Screw office, I need games.
Not to mention it's the 100 year anniversary of the sinking of the Titanic. Coincidence? Probably, but I'd still recommend that you never let go.

I hard wire all of my applications.

Boo-yah!

Porting Linux to a soundcard? I've never heard of such a thing. Sounds excessive, but I'll hear you out.
Now is that freedom or beer?

We at least need a slashdot notifier.
The installation crashed. Better report that. ...wait a second...
The real question is: how long until we can outfit them with some toxic dart guns?
