Does anyone remember this article where Nintendo Executive Vice President, Peter Main, said '...Microsoft has announced November 8th as their launch date, but I don't think that's final. The GameCube will definitely launch on schedule though...'
From whining like this its pretty obvious that many/.otters havent worked on large scale, combined HW/SW projects. Ive rarely seen anything that needed both a box, and the software to go in it, ship on time. Would you rather they hit the date with a piece of crap, or a great product a few weeks late?
This may be true for business to business, but for high speed access in 'bedroom communities', fiber just isnt going to happen. Cities and outlying areas will get fiber, but those towns like mine (25 miles from Boston) just ARENT going to get fiber anytime soon (hell, theyve been promising cablemodems since 1995) so DSL currently is my ONLY option.
Outrage? Yes. Stupid? Yes. But considering the enviroment where any script kiddie can launch something like Code Red, is this really a suprise that someone overreacts and calls in the FBI?
Not that I think its right (I dont), but its not real suprising.
As long as they get their crystals straight. "We've replaced all the components in Jim's computer with Freeze-dried folgers crystals. Lets see if he notices..."
It's clear that if Adobe modified future versions of Reader so that it could read attachments embedded in PDF files, the program could fall victim to Peachy's descendents.
Yea, and if the moon is made of green cheese, we could fly up there and eat it...
Normally, the "Scientific Community" in general gets first crack at new theories, usually by publishing the paper independently, and waiting to see who pays attention. They laugh at them, poke them, prod them, and try and duplicate them.
No wonder I cant see my screen at home anymore!

Possibly true (smacks of urban legend, I need to wander over to Snopes), but it might be a well-lighted side street behind a 6' privet hedge.
No no no, its turtles all the way down

Does this mean I can now listen to Radio Free Europe, and hear The Drifters sing "On Broadway" ?

"fall" being the operative word.
Personally, Id separate laywers into "Potential Targets" and "Previous Targets"

Well, you know, one giant leap for mankind and all that
Thats remarkably close to being a goatse.cx post, there, bud. Spanking the kernel, indeed...
No, for $5,000, its an espresso machine
Hell, you can get free access just about anywhere in the city. Take a laptop and an 802.11 card and wander from Harvard Square down towards MIT...
Considering it was USN&WR, I assume she recognized him right after Elvis gave her a haircut on a UFO.
You first, but dont forget to tape it tight around the neck. Faster than chlorene in the gene pool.
If true, where can we get this supposed amazing code?
