The comment about the OS running as an "application" in the CELL got me wondering if they are using some Xen patched Linux kernel? Can anyone confirm this?
AMD is not the logical choice for Apple. AMD struggles to produce its own x86-64 chips, let alone a PPC chip for Apple (which would be more likely). This is why you see AMD target the high-end of the x86 market, the gamers and so on, because it doesn't have the ability to produce for the lower-end.
Intel on the other hand has the means for production, has lots of R&D to pool from, and importantly, can produce in a timely fashion. This is why I don't think it's too difficult for intel to produce PPC chips for Apple. Intel is truley massive, compared to AMD at least, has the cream of the cream working for them. PPC is an open spec, producing these chips, I'm sure, would not be difficult.
I'de buy Apple kit, but I find it hard to justify the cost.
I run Gentoo Linux on a Sony P3 1GHz laptop, I enjoy Linux 2.6.11, so I'm really just eye'in up OSX's pretty user interface. Apples hardware is nice, and certainly more powerful than what I have, but they blatently use price descrimination techniques in the UK online store, making it even worse on my bank account.:-(

Surely, if it's lack of manpower, then; $ apt-build security-officer =)

No, PearPC was started before CherryOS. It's open source, whereas CherryOS was a commercial venture.
When pigs fly...
Seriously, CherryOS was a hoax.
