to register a patent in the USA is $1347, IBM has 4914 Patents, which equals $6,619,158 spent on patents.
now thats just the USA, to get an international patent is about $10k+ (only including the most popular countries) so that would be $49,140,000 in international patent fees for about 10 years...
now my question is, is it worth is spending so much on a patent that wont generate enough money to cover the cost of the patent?
This has been available in Australia for all broadband AND dial up plans for years.. i dont see why Comcast has taken so long to give its users access to a monitoring tool.
its usually close to the end of the billing month you check your usage and then try and make up the difference:)
yeah, every time i'm coming from Columbia, i always say i'm participating in a drug detection program.:)
if i dont get caught i get paid in bricks of cocaine.
Limiting your phone to a certain search provider, would be considered illegal right? not providing options to competitors
1. you have the anti-trust suit going on; now Microsoft makes a deal to remove options from a phone limiting it to Microsoft search, providing no choice, illegal?
2. a non critical change from an update without the user opting out of the change could be illegal?
3. isn't a phone deal, the phone, the phones connection and the phones calls, not what's on the phone? if its the later than isn't the company making the changes liable for damages?
4. in the contract does it state your locked into using bing as a search? and if Verizon is making money off your searches aren't you entitled to know that?
i am interested to see if a suit follows after this change, how it effected contracts before the microsoft deal
I was recently appointed a IT Manager and was told to stop the spam, as management was getting atleast 300 spam a day, each.
Our current email provider would NOT implement DKIM, but I did have control to my domain records.
SPF is too easy to implement; see http://www.openspf.org/
DKIM on the other hand took a while, i tried DKIMproxy but couldn't get it to sign messages outside the local network so i moved to amavis, see; http://www.faqforge.com/linux/how-to-enable-dkim-email-signatures-in-amavisd-new-and-ispconfig-3/
There is plenty of manuals and support on how to implement SPF and DKIM i do not see why (for the benefit of the provider) its not being implemented.
I have seen so many web hosts provide hosting and disable this feature its inexcusable.
SPF: proves an email should only be legitimised if the sender server matches the record; as many assume its not an anti-spam mesure but to ensure that the server you send from doesnt send spam through your domain.
DKIM: proves that the email sent WAS from your server by referencing the key generated in the email to the one on your public DNS record.
combining both ensures people receiving your email that you are the one sending it and that you sent it from your server.
By implementing SPF, DKIM and DNSBL (you should see the amount of spam that gets denied now) my boss' spam has reached to probably 5 a day with is a protection rate on 98.4%
only issue i have is with china, since we communicate with manufacturers in china and they have a huge spam rate it can get complicated.
there are two methods, stop spam from sending to you (DNSBL) and stop spam from sending from you (SPF and DKIM) the latter ensures people will get your email, the former still blocks legitimate email from blocked IP's which is still a worry:(
its true, whatever they write on the ToS they feel that as long as its written down they have the right to do anything.
they disconnect you for some arbitrary reason they point to section 57 paragraph 3, blah blah blah smurfs from monday to wed aren't allowed to be blue, except on a full moon and only if you sacrifice a small child.....
I really hope the EFF peruses this and establishes a positive precedent so future legal battles and gauge on this and finally get some rights back.
wow the world of technology is spiking, i remember only a few years ago there was only 1 massive super computer,
now every university will have one, what next, link every supercomputer and have a supercomputer cloud or should i say nebula now?:p
the rise of the machine, let me take this time to welcome our new ovelords.
Piracy is so high because there is no trialware software, try before you buy.
therefore why spend $6.99 on a program you dont even know is that good?
its easier to download an app and apply it on a jailbroken phone and try it to see how good it is,
but then they leave it on the phone because they "unconsciously" feel because the company didnt offer a trial they dont deserve your money.
and if it turns out to be crap software people just delete it and not feel like they wasted $6.99
Note to Apple: Encourage Trialware, your software quality will go up because people wont buy crap.
I wonder how many people started shhh'ing and hissing and clicking when they read this story, would've been funny when u walk past a cubicle and someone doing that:p
imagine when you have 10 people in a room doing that, how can u filter out that static?
Although comets may have initiated seeding of life and the foundry of everything from water to minerals.. there has been proof that water is abundant in space and maybe have just been absorbed into the atmosphere on earth and generated that way, over time rain would have brought the water molecules to the surface. http://www.space.com/scienceastronomy/astronomy/milkyway_water_010412.html
in my opinion, if you really want the domain and it isn't being used, and you made a proper offer for the domain (not something like $1 million dollars) and they refused, i suggest you either threaten to take it up with WIPO and get it transferred to you to lower the cost, or actually take it up with WIPO.. keeping in mind a case with WIPO can set you back $1500-$4000 USD (http://www.wipo.int/amc/en/domains/fees/index.html)
ok we have elderly, who do not like all these new gadgets, who have bad eye-sight and memory are going to use a small device with complicated settings and a small screen.
what happened to those trusty signs they used to hang from the roof saying whats in the aisle.
talk about over complicating such a simple problem.
its true, i run a games arcade, the kids are smarter than the adults.. we have like 5 signs at the counter saying 1 thing, BUT NO ONE READS THEM.
we have signs on ALL machines stating how much it costs, NO ONE READS THEM, in fact they keep putting in their money til it starts to work, or think the machine is broken and i have to explain it to them.
Seriously people have no common sense anymore and rely on everything to be done for them so they don't have to think.
is it legal to just mass register domains and use them for profiteering?
i've wanted to buy some domains to use but when i go to check to see if its available all i see are those search scams
Because its an acronym for Machintosh Apple Computer

how are they going to do this (was gonna say 'enforce')
go around and see every driver obeying the rules, pull them over and give them a buttercup?

Theres plenty of help out there, especially at the WIPO: http://www.wipo.int/amc/en/domains/
.. keeping in mind a case with WIPO can set you back $1500-$4000 USD (http://www.wipo.int/amc/en/domains/fees/index.html)
For an example of people who have lost domains check out: http://www.wipo.int/amc/en/domains/cases/index.html
I actually found this an interesting read from all the responses cybersquatters have.
There is an article at WIPO about cybersquatting, can be found at: http://www.wipo.int/pressroom/en/articles/2009/article_0005.html

Maybe the teacher is in a terrorist cell, was lazy and got his/her students to do the work :p

That explains a lot at University i went to why the cleaner was always hanging around the economic and civil theory lessons

"the largest monthly text message total he could find online, 182,000 sent in 2005 by a man in India", technically he only sent 140,000
yes, kudos to the maker of that, would have taken a while now thats dedication
