Of course, some news sites don't have a dead tree counterpart. Money comes from ads and spyware. It makes it free for us to use but costs advertisers money. Thus, newspapers that charge for their content can but why bother when so many other sites have free content. Assuming local newspapers have the same content as other sites. My local paper blows.

That happened in the early 90's and most likely started before then. just check your local newspapers. My town only has one and to say it's conservative is an understatement. It has editorials from Billy Graham. Anyways, people don't want conflicting views forced on them (liberal bias) and want only the view or interest they want. Fragmentation of America is natural based on political philosophy, religion, interests, ethic background, and education. It's natural to be around those similiar to you even on the Internet.

Anyways, as a recent convert to football (thanks to gf), a football with fantasy teams would be nice. Imagine American Founding Fathers vs Russian Soviets. Nobel Peace vs Nobel Chemistry (Gandi gets unessary roughness). Best yet, Linux Programmers vs Microsoft Drones.

A fantasy football game wouldn't do well unless it had a gimmick that could be worked into a niche like historical fans, LOTR, RPG-football mix for example. It depends on what people would want and how well it was made. I still want a football game with elves, dwarves and goblins.

But a point does come up about business using P2P as a tool to distribute content.

Imagine RIAA making a centralized P2P protocol and software. They charge, say, $40 a month for unlimited downloads. However, with a modified MP3 format (or some other audio file format). The format could degrade each time it's copied thus the more it's shared, it becomes a corrupted file. Then people would have to download it from RIAA again. Not fool proof but an idea.

P2P won't go away but with so many people using it to download warez and tunes illegally, no one will take it as a serious method of sharing info except for public domain material and maybe scientific papers that journals can't make money off of anymore (out of date).

    Just my crazy ideas.

EA sports games aren't truely shitty but could use another look at the code. In Madden 2003, players walk through each other at times. ESPN NFL 2k5 is great but no more. EA is just making a series to make money and to entertain people. However, if they aquire enough brands that people like, they will dominate the market and I, for one, won't welcome our fascist video game overlords.

  14. Re:Depends. on EA Takeover Moves and Countermoves · · Score: 1
A sizable portion of the video game market buys Madden every year just because it's Madden, without thinking of whether there might be alternatives.

Actually that is brand loyality. Once they get used to Madden and it gives them what they want (a decent football game) then why look for alternatives? ESPN NFL 2k5 is great but many footbal fans tend to get one football game for a year at least ones I know.

Halo 2 was declared by many sources game of the year sight unseen, just because those sources thought that was what they were expected to do.

Again, brand loyality but they assume the sequal will be as good as the first just from sources that say so. Once a video game company makes a series people realy likes, they'll stick with it.
