    Take the training.

    If you get a new job have your new employer pay for the training costs that you owe. And sell them on the fact that yes it is a lot of money in training but you do not lose my services for X weeks that I would be out training

    Just put in 2 Video cards. The one that works with your monitor for configuration purposes, then the other card for when you want to run the machine.

    We have 6 T1 lines coming in and then a wired network so that every unit has good high-speed access

    You should look at the cost fo a T3, they can be cheaper than many T1's

    The pipes could compromise the structual integrety.

    The hoover dam had pipes layed in for cooling purposes, the pipes were then filled with concrete.

    but that pipe could impare the structual integrety of the span. The hover dam had pipes rin thru it to cool the concrete while it was being poored, when they were done they filled the pipes with concrete.

    But if you did not think about that, then you probably do not have the technical expertise to design, build, & program a robotic arm.

    Just go buy a duplicator or pay a stupid kid $5.50/hr + Caffiene + a few cdr's

    GRC makes a very nice piece of software called Spinrite. I have used this in the past to recover tonns of data. I have not used the newer versions but if it anywhere near as good as the old version it would be worth a try.

    1. Plenty of airconditioning 2 smaller units capable of 2/3's of the load each giving you 1 1/3 total needed capacity.
    2. Fans for when 1 of the A/C units die. The cheap ones do a good job.

    3. Sound dampening material on the walls and ceiling near the server's or it will be loud in the room.

    last time I did the math the Color HP's printing B&W were 2.5x more expensive than a standard B&W laser.

    The math took into account the cost of all consumables, like toner(duh), drum life, fuser, rollers, basically anything that had to be replaced.

    I've been toying with setting up a compressed SSH stream to my webserver and installing Squid on that. I server a few small sites so Processing power is not a big deal. I'm not too sure that SSH will help me much. I've already installed a local Squid server and I block ads, that helps a bunch. I'd love to get more Idea's.

    About all linux needs to make it into the desktop world is ease of use for Eye DE 10 T's, by adding "wizards", or gui configs. And start asking questions in plain english as obbosed to "techeese".

    I didn't have enough money for a good computer table. But having enough "spare" machines I stacked them on their sides, leveled them out with a phone book and put an old door on top. Now my cluster is also my desk. If I could just move my legs with out causing the the power to go out in the neighborhood.

  19. Kvm's on KVM Recommendations for 2002? · · Score: 1

    I have used several differnet brands.
    I have an older aten 4 port at home and I love it.

    The Cybex with longview Rocks.
    I have a powerreach KVM by compuCable and it sux because I need to be on the port I am booting to have the mouse work properly, The other brands do not have a problem with this.
    If possible get a 2x or a 4x kvm, these allow you to use multiple KV+M's to access the switched computers.

    And ALWAYS get more ports then you think you need.
    Get A bunch of cables, of different lengths N+ 2 is nice incase a cable get's borked.

    Bulk wipes from a big electromagnet are very easy to counter given the proper SW/HW because they add a nice "uniform" field to a HD. This does render the data "wiped" from the general user because the drive will appear blank.

    Depending on the level of "security" you are looking for overwriting a file is not good enough. With proper analysis files can be recovered when they have been over written several times. This is expensive and time consuming, but it can be done.

    Why not just run conduit to drop points in each room, bringing them to wiring closet. Then the cost of running new cable as things change or they break, becomes simple. Label all of the conduits descriptively. Be sure to do a little research on bend radius of fibre. I would put 2 drops near each power outlet (1 network/phone, 1 catv/speakers)

    Where I work we do not run anything less than cat 5 for the structured wiring, and it is all to punch pannels. The wall plates are all have 3 taps.

    last i heard Porn is one of the industries that is actually making money as a whole on the net. People will always want porn PERIOD. I agree it is a great place to work and learn. There is bandwidth that you get to work with, there is the cutting edge in "advertising", search engine "loading", cookies, tracking of users.

    Also if the site is good (at work cannot check it yet:) then you will proabaly have a job for a long while.

    1 make sure all the units have a weakness.
    2 if the user is producing all of Unit A then produce a unit that exploits the weaknesses
    3 This would help to force the user to adapt their stragety

    See if you can find a local isp willing to let you do colo inexchange for some help or even as a local game server for their customers as well
