  1. To some extent they have a point. on NZ Business Fined For Out-of-Date Website · · Score: 1, Insightful

To some extent, they have a point in that it is bad for companies to advertise things and not actually have all of what they do advertise. But that hardly calls for a 3000 dollar fine. Especially for something as non-critical as food. It's not like someone paid a 1000 bucks to live in some hotel that didn't have A/C but said it did. That would be a better case. Not people whining about some food item thats not available at the store that was published online. And seriously .. "the website price varied between 17 and 36 per cent cheaper than the in-house menu." -- ?? 15 - 30 cents? Pocket change anyone?

  2. This can work both ways on Bounties for Gnome Optimization · · Score: 2, Insightful

Money is sometimes a very good incentive, but sometimes things you work for money don't seem as much fun. It's hard to explian but it's true. When you get paid to build a system, it's not as much fun as when you build your own system. Myabe its the whole intrinsic vs. extrinsic motivation thing. My two cents.

  3. Why?? on Webcam Jigsaw Solver in 200 Lines of Python · · Score: 0

I thought the whole point of jigsaws was to kill time without your brain sleeping on you. Or just have fun with family. What's next? Have a robot do your fishing while you and your father stay home?

Pointless in my opinion. And not technologically innovative either like some people have already said.

  5. Huh? on Dell Rejects AMD Chips (again) · · Score: 1, Insightful

Why is it that we always have these big companies that we simply rant on. Think. Dell is a company. They want to make money. People are buying their computers. Why would they bother switching? Even if switching to AMD would be cheaper, I don't see why everyone treats this as some big conspiracy. So Dell supports Intel. Is that wrong? They can do whatever the hell they want with their products and choose to support whatever companies.

  6. Forget Pressure... on Smart People Choke Under Pressure · · Score: 0

Time of day matters. My brain only works from 7pm to around 3-4am (with a little help from soda, till 5am). I cannot get myself to do much in the mornings /afternoons.

  7. Ugh on MS AntiSpyware vs Ad-Aware vs. SpyBot · · Score: 0

Besides the usual blind skepticism and pathetic attempts at trying to be funny, there has been no real discussion here. Then again, that's not new. The article says that Microsoft's product does a better job. Why can't people accept this? I am sure if the product was my Company X or Apple, people would fall on their knees and worship it.

  9. It is really not that bad on Don't Click Here For A Free iPod · · Score: 0

Well if all the people who said "is it worth your time?" can actually afford paying 300 bucks for an mp3 player. Go ahead. You are not selling of your information to some shady company. These are companies like blockbuster, AOL and Earthlink. They get you info from others anyways. They are just giving these people money for sending them "potential" customers. Most other people just give them email addys and names. Gratis is giving them people who are trying out their product. Which is why they are getting big bucks in return. And if I can get a free ipod by just signing up for a free blockbuster trial and asking 5 friends to do the same, I don't see how that is a bad deal at all! -Aditya

  10. People need to stop flaming on Microsoft EU Monopoly Appeal Thrown Out · · Score: -1, Redundant

I don't know. Everytime something about Microsoft comes up, people start flaming them. Sure they have an almost-monopoly. That just shows the incompetence of the competition. And it always goes back to "Microsoft stole Mac's code". Uhh sure, that was like 10 years ago. Give it some rest. I am not going to flame the other side now. But it annoys me that people just start with a negative view of Microsoft everytime they come up. My two cents.
