    He was coerced by the government to sign a waiver to the quick and speedy trial act, because they wouldn't release their evidence during discovery, thus his lawyers were unable to prepare a proper defense in the 180 days before a trial is required.
    As I understand it the government used the excuse that proper discovery would make information public that would be damaging to security of corporations concerned.

    I agree, but you forgot about the lying reporter who blew Kevins case into the huge federal fiasco that it became rather than a normal case where someone got into a system and had a peek, left few footprints adn did little (actually no) damage.
    He didn't even profit fron the things he did. Outsmarted people with big paychecks. That is why they wanted him so bad. He embarrassed the big boys and also was made an example of by the press and then the Feds who needed another whipping boy "big bad hacker" whom they claim was trying to bring down the nation.
    His real crime was seeing things they didn't want him to see. Or to put it better, showing that the buisness types can't nesisarily protect our privacy.
    My point being that the feds/cops are just tools and it's really all about the money.

    If it is twice as entertaining as bob, clippy and the stupid talking dog, kids will ignore it in two seconds. When my kids were growing up they would rather play with trash than most toys. with trash they cold get into things they weren't supposed to, and use their imagination building things out of it.
    How is the crazy thing going to make them listen, shock collars. I suppose that will be the next BSOD, the Random Robot Electrocution Phenomenon?

    I did my first laptop install two months ago, Suse 9.2 on a Compaq r3000, and I only had the wireless problem. The only problem there was I had never done it before.
    My ATI mobility 9000 igp 3d grphics work great, I really can't relate to anything that he wrote in the article.
    Please click on his ads so he won't be so desperate for clicks!
    Now I know why I dropped my pc mag subcription.

    You don't have to be a perv lover to worry about the accused people who might be innocent of a crime but be convicted anyway.
    This post has used the apropriate punisment for a full-on Salem witch hunt anyway.
    I believe they should be locked up untill a shrink and a court has determined they will *never* re-offend, until then, throw away the key.

    Fix what ya can and give them a 404 if ya can't.
    A fix will be along directly.
    The boss will think ya ain't makin enough, but it's better than loosing yer customers credit info, etc.

    Yeah, something to group all the distros and list the different vulinerabilities in one large site.
    And then Joey the script kitten reads it, and then he instantly can hack 8 different distros, and not have to even try and stay up.
    keep yer sys. patched and listen fer new bugs!!
    kill the connection if it's bad enough and then patch it.

    Raymond has some probs too, but for real, this isn't about figure heads, be sure and check yer code, and when a vulnerability rises get the patch and fix it.
    I'm still waiting fer the perfect movie, and book, but I like the ones that are current, with out tweeking out and loosing sleep.
    Remember MS1 don't lose no sleep!!!

    Personally I think my KDE looks ten times better than the factory XP gui right now.
    If I add enough stuff to xp to make it look as good, it runs about as stable as Win-Me.
    As for video cards, when Longhorn comes out, todays will be in the same pile with all the other crap piled on the beta max.

    It is now used as a drivers licence # in many states, if you don't specificly request that the Dept. of Revenue not use it. This means that evey time you buy a bottle of wine, or cash a check, the cashier can ask to see it, or else you don't get what you are buying.
