    Actually, that's not true. You connect to a different port to do secure SMTP to gmail, which is what the code in question did to send the email.

  2. It's not a problem with the backups on Windows Home Server Corrupts Files · · Score: 1

    The problem occurs when you save to a shared folder. That's separate from the backup functionality.

    Actually, some types of RFID do have built-in power. It's used in situations like the one being discussed here, where the tags might not be close enough to the reader for passive power.

    It's no wonder that it didn't detect 80+% of the viruses. Defender is an anti-spyware program. You still need an anti-virus program on Vista.

    In my state (Iowa), there's an absentee ballot committee in each county which consists of at least 3 people, and all major parties are represented. The ballots are sealed until polls close, and at that point, the committee feeds the ballots into the machine. It'd be difficult to introduce fraud at that stage.

    ESX isn't the only flavor of VMware. There's VMware Workstation, as well as the new (free) VMware Server, which do, in fact, use Linux (or Windows) as the host.

  9. Re:Not being a programer myself, on AMD Subpoenas Skype · · Score: 1

    There's only one problem with that idea -- CPUID is not a privileged instruction, so it would be difficult to virtualize it.

  10. mplayer != MythTV on MythTV 0.19 Released · · Score: 1

    All you need to do is, as another poster mentioned, change the MythDVD settings to use another program that does support DVD menus. Xine works well, as does ogle. It's not a MythTV problem at all.

    CLR = Common Language Runtime. Basically, the .Net runtime environment. The Java equivalent is the JVM (Java Virtual Machine.)
    IL = Intermediate Language. This is the code generated by .Net compilers, and executed by the CLR.
    GAC = Global Assembly Cache. This is a special area for system-wide assemblies. They don't need to be in the same directory as the main assembly for a given program. Assemblies in the GAC also automatically recieve full trust.

  14. Re:Windows based? Who cares? on Software PVRs Becoming Tivo Killers · · Score: 3, Informative

    The reason the MythTV documentation seems intermittent is that MythTV doesn't really care what kind of remote control you use. It uses LIRC for remote control. The remote controls supported by LIRC change with each release, and those releases aren't synchronized with MythTV releases. The LIRC homepage has a comprehensive list of IR and RF receivers that are known to work.

    Sure, in 1985, they knew that bromelaine would suppress tumor growth. I don't think they had identified the particular molecules that were responsible, though, which is what will lead to future viable treatments. It's not like you can inject pineapple extract into a living patient.
