    When I was interning for the tech school I was going to, I was envolved in setting up a batch of machines for use in the library. One program(something to do with the culinary course) required users have write access to it's program files in the system folder in order to get around having every culinary student be a power user.
    Typically, you can email the program's developer or publisher for details on what permissions need to be set in order to run a progarm while a limted/standard user(it helps to be running XP Pro on a domain when dealing with the permissions though).

    180 Solutions is not the only spyware "suite" out there. The amount of spyware *might* go down(it is still a fairly lucrative business), but it will still be around.

    With the 360's I have seen on websites, they are screwless, so it is not an easy task to get in there and mod it. Sorry, I can't remember where I saw the process for opening one up.

    Will the self storage locker be heated/insulated? Lots of heat/cold and humidity can be severly damaging to paper. While unheated lockers are somewhat cheap, heated ones cost a little more. The digital archive will be easier to copy if needed, anyway.

    Actually, somone makes a firewire thumb drive. I think it's crucial, but i'm not positive.

    Have you been to http://www.grc.com/freepopular.htm? One of his tools, Wizmo (for XP), is accessed from the command line and can do a variety of things with a simple command(including sleeping and hibernating a machine, among other things. It's not a big app either.

    Cellular One still offers TDMA service, although it is being phased out to GSM.

    Mine is pretty basic.
    - 2 Compaq Presario 2100 laptops(mine running xp pro and my brother's running home)
    - 1 BIY tower with a 2.8(?)ghz p4 and 512 ram, 2 80 gig SATA harddrives running win server 2003 standard
    - 1 cisco 800 series SOHO router with a basic configuration
    - 1 HP LaserJet 1100 shared on server.

    I can thank my copy of xp pro and win server 2003 to the Microsoft ELMS program and my router to the fact ta I was attending a Cisco accredited networking academy(I paid $250, not $500 for it)

    I might be etiher adding a ibook or a mac mini once I have more money and a kvm switch.

    I know what you mean. What I want is a phone that has bluetooth, but I don't want the color screen or camera. All I want is a phone that will work with my Palm, and not give me features I won't be using.

    Anyone know of one that exists, that is GSM/TDMA compatible, and I can get unlocked? I would ratehr get an unlocked phone so I can take it between cell providers, instead of collecting phones(I have 3 nokia 5165s).

    After they get the report, they probably don't look at the person that just put a large deposit down on a house, but at he person taht does it regularly.

    Thank you. It's just a litte frustrating to be one of the first people to contribute to a discussion (most of the things I want to say get said before I see the discussions) and get marked redundant only **after** there are about thirty posts between my post and the one right before it.

    I don't know about the learning curve, as I don't program at all, but with the regular installer for OS X, you get developer tools as well (a Mac Mini would probably fit in well with your setup, especially if you use a KVM switch).

    You can also check out Apple's developer website (http://developer.apple.com/) for more details.

    And bugging is not hard at all. The network interface box has a block with screws used to anchor the wires, then it goes right to a RJ-11 connector and jack. It's real easy to tap the line there with a small recording device or wireless transmitter.

    With over 50 comments, I can't believe no one mentioned Novii Remote!(http://novii.tv/). The PPC version is behind the version for Palm, due to the sheer number of processors for PPCs, but it is a good universal remote if your pda is compatible with it. You can fit hundreds(if you wanted to) of codebases for various devices(TVs, VCRs, Stereos, cable boxes, etc) on the pda, assuming you have the space, making it easy to control devices. Care to drive your neighbor nuts when you visit? Hehe. :)

    Accoriding to the article, HE DID NOT HAVE ACCESS TO CREDITCARD NUMBERS. "Jacobsen had access to some customers' Social Security numbers and dates of birth, voicemail PINs, and the passwords providing users with web access to their T-Mobile email accounts. He did not have access to credit card numbers."

    Try writing in multiple sentances with paragraphs.

    OS X is not immune either. It only takes one line in the terminal to delete your home directory, and it can a really small script file, or you can be tricked into typing it yourself, if you aren't smart.

    Unfortunately, apple shares this with M$: the first user is an admin. Luckily root is diabled by default.

    What I did on Mom's machine is setup a rule in OE that basically says, "If the sender is not in my address book, the message goes to the spam box" and it seems to do most of the trick.

    Not all areas are subject to the connection fee. I have a Sprint prepaid card, which has a $.40 connection fee from payphones, but I don't get by it up here in Alaska. This makes it much more convenient than making sure you have at least $.35 on you at all times.
