It isn't as effect a marketing tool if they build it seemlessly into the Operating system.
Like AOL's new Anti-virus shtick, It gives the average user a feature that they can wrap their head around. A system task that lets them feel like they have control over their computing environment.
holes in...the software they wrote
I'd also like to point out that even precious Linux has security holes.
I can't remember WMP ever asking me for a license before. Maybe I'm just not using the right features, but it plays just about any media file I throw at it without any bitching(codecs being installed).
Something like this could REALLY wreck hell if it was written to work with iTunes. A good number of those people buy their music from the service.
The footprint is almost there, if not already the same. The height is what they're pushing now I imagine.
As long as they keep the costs down they will continue to appeal to their market, but I personally like having the storage/device options that a large case affords. Nothing says "piece of mind" like knowing that you can slap another harddrive/Burner into a case instead of using an external enclosure.
The trick is to spin your article with an Anti-microsoft(M$ if you prefer) shtick. Should that not necessarily be your thing, then a simple pro-linux/OSS agenda will usually suffice.
Ahhhh the virtual boy. An answer to a question that nobody asked.
As for the N64 controller. Did they ever release one that had all of the available(Rumble, that thing that Majora's mask required) built-in like the Dual shock? Sony didn't "redesign" their controller so much as they added features to it.
The system can link up to 30 units and you can control them by wireless remote, but then you need to buy a separate set of speakers/subwoofer for each Amp?
It's good that they tested it at a casino, beause that's one of the only business large enough to support such a device.
Because everyone's favorite places to store a piece of electronics are either the back of a pickup truck on a bumpy road or the top of a domestic animal.
Don't forget to tell Microsoft to fuck off for having the foresight to include a harddrive and broadband at the release of the product, or having four controller ports built in so you don't have to buy an adapter for your two extra friends.
OOOOOHHH, and all those low priced memory cards we ne.... wait, the built-in harddrive means no more goddamned memory cards too!
Read the above posts.
As I said before, no software is perfect. Thus, no operating system is totally secure.
Microsoft Windows users get free access to update servers for security patches and the rare service packs.
Unless you've managed to purchase some odd windows license/software that doesn't allow you to access the Microsoft's Windows Update servers.
You even have the option of not installing the updates if you wish.(at this point)

The microsoft backup utility is still bundled with Windows XP/2000 Pro/Server. XP Home requires you to install it from another source.

You can use it to catch, like, totally mad air on wicked jumps.
but but but.... this is a REVOLUTIONARY INNOVATION! Sony has never done anything like this before!

It isn't heavy enough until I can kill my cat with it.
There are right turns TOO!
Industry Speculation in this article only. Take out the word Xbox and put in any product name for the same effect.
Open Source Science?

Thou shalt not defame the Holy Mozilla's name !!!
Wasn't there a time when we didn't need sequels do sell consoles?
The GameCube has been rotten to hell about Sequel-itis. Nintendo likes to flog their franchises.
*whisper* If you make it run linux, they will come.*whisper*
...or theft, damage due to clumsiness(heavy fingers), poor taste in music...
:D
What kind of establishments usually have juke boxes these days? Bars, diners, wafflehouses. Pretty upscale market we're looking at.
That doesn't include speakers :D

based on revenue
When you look at is that way...
Games like MechAssault which we've seen on consoles for YEARS now!
