Adespoton is spot on. No gravitational force can be detected when in "free fall" which is what space orbit is. Even as gravity may grab you and accelerate you towards a large mass, there is no bodily sensation whatsoever. Every molecule of the bodily is (almost) identically effected. There is nothing to cue the brain that gravity is pulling you, even as you may change direction as a result of it. Very difficult for most people to understand this who are used to feeling earth under there feet, air against their skin, and visual references all around.
Interesting how the farmers are not the ones against Monsanto. They instead point to people like us as misguided, out-of-touch ignoramuses who buy 99% of their food at grocery stores and don't need to worry about about crop failures.
Also, nobody's getting sued for cross-over pollination. That's a myth started by farmers who knowingly propagated seed against their contract, got caught, and lied about it. Quite natural behavior.
Farmers are practical people. If Monsanto products don't produce a benefit, they won't buy them.
"Bomb the muslim world" is a phrase I *never* heard before or after 9/11. And by the way you do realize that most muslims do not live in the middle east.
If I understand what you're referring to, confessions aren't beat out of anybody. In rare cases, it's information about others that torture is used to extract.
These are quotes from bible stories. Not mandates for personal behavior. The bible doesn't tell you to kill those of other religions. The quran does. It also says alot of stuff about peace, love and tolerance. That's largely why there's such a divide among muslims. It's not a matter of being able to interpret anything you want. It's there plain and simple. Persecute the unbelievers on one page, then make peace with them on another.
No effective difference? I suppose you're right in that in each case the point is to track criminals. But in one situation the crime is looking at a web site that is critical of the local government. It's easy to guess which of the two countries that is, and that makes an effective difference to me.
OK, I'll tell you the difference. Anti-abortion organizations do not plant bombs in shopping malls, weddings, sports arenas or tall buildings. They do not say that they will continue to kill masses of people until the law is changed in their favor. They do not walk into your town, round up a couple dozen people, shoot them thru the head and then "ask" the rest of you to help them.
Instead they directly target those people who they see as directly responsible for the "baby killings".
Now can you tell the difference?
And, no, I don't support any of them.

You don't watch Fox cuz you think it's biased, so you go listen to NPR? And you're accusing Fox and their viewers of preaching to the choir? Unbelievable.
> If they'd been given part of Brazil, you think they'd be having the problems they have now? Unlikely.
Actually, it's extremely likey. The Jews would have prospered in a corner of Brazil as they have elsewhere. Yet the native Brazilians would not, as we see today. Sooner rather than later the Jews would be blamed for not only the poverty and lawlessness of Brazil, but every government in South America would be blaming the Jews for "holding them down" not to mention all of the other ills of their society. I don't know why it would be any different.
Actually, the article says that alot of incoming solar radiation is being reflected back into space and NOT heating up the earth or its atmosphere. This is allegedly offsetting much of the greehouse gas's warming effects. So removing particulate pollution would allow the greenhouse gasses to do their full damage.
charging money for software to cover costs and run a business. Everyone is free to buy it or not. I worked for 12 years on a software package that assists and optimizes the manufacture of printed circuit boards. It has become very difficult to produce PCBs without this type of software. It would never have been developed as free software. Custom "one-off" solutions would force hardware manufacturers out of their expertise. Without charging for software I'm guessing there would be alot fewer choice we'd be able to make.
More like a very *imitative* set of capabilities. Don't you think they're just going to copy what other browsers have succeeded with. Tabbed browsing comes to mind.
