    In Europe, to simplify commerce and such, we swirched to Euro, nobody used it before.
    I don't think you cannot do the same with the measurement units, since you also already *accepted* them years ago.

    They tried to simulate it... it depends. If it breaks in the upper part, the cable will (literally) tie the Earth many times, but it shouldn't do much harm (they say). Not even killing people under the cable.
    here and very iteresting here.

    I only wonder how could such event be interpreted in countries without much civilisation... a cable you cannot break and without and end. Woah.

    When I hear this sort of things, I always remember "The lost planet", 1956.
    People always behaving good, but still nasty inside. As soon as the control is removed, the nasty part of them is freed all at once.

    This wouldn't be a problem, if it was only a sci-fi movie...

    Not needed: let's assume these "people" will find the plutonium 500 years from now. Don't you think they will have small Geigers in the watch/phone/pda/brain implant?

    Come on...
    People will dig *looking for* plutonium/uranium/radioactive wastes in the next centuries... we are the only one that bury such energetic materials!

    Remember that he couldn't use any computer, he had to do it by hand and that you don't have to use strong algorthms when you only have to hide something from other bosses. The police was not on schedule :-)

    I managed to connect linux to win xp home almost imeddiately, it's not difficult. The problem is windows itself: I still can't have Win xp home view a win98 pc...
