No, but it's hardly diplomatic behaviour we see from the US in this case. Nothing new about that though.
I'm not saying this as flamebait, but if the US actually tried to excercise their so-called power over the internet for something truly sinister, they would find it to be more of a swiss cheese than a sledgehammer to wield...:)
Well, axe (called lynx in the UK btw) specifically won't get you laid, but your chances are greater if you at least use some kind of deo... Won't matter how hot you are if you smell like doritos...:) (mmm.... blue doritos... must... buy...)
I'd be more concerned about diebold attacking this because it's a potential threat to their bottom line. After all, Q3 is soon over and Quarter Panic has set in.
Scary that by trying to avoid communism your country ends up with exactly the features of it that you don't want. You (not you but your people) refuse useful stuff like national healthcare and free college tuition, but are more than happy to give up your right to privacy in the name of the war on (terror|drugs|dancing|barney).
But Access (the purchasers) paid something like 200% more than the "value" of the stock (though I guess things are worth what someone is willing to pay. Palm did make a bid for PalmSource, but they were outbid by too much and decided that it "just didn't make sense".
So I'd say the palm platform is far from dead, Palm is just diversifying. I mean, they're just a hardware maker now, and if someone wants to buy your handsets with winmob on, you give it too them.
1. Listen to customers 2. Give them what they want 3. Profit!!!
This sounds like some of the critisisms that Linux software devs/power users get a lot of, being elitist, arrogant and not giving users a choice etc. Besides the original article being a troll, it's overlooking the main point: If you like yahoo's interface, go with yahoo, if you like google's interface then go with them. They're both free for chrissake... Same goes for linux apps too, and while gnome are a bit arrogant about the whole spatial nautilus thing is true, you can allways choose not to use it, like I do. Nobody is telling you what to do!
All I can say is I am sorry for the next generation of people who are introduced to the entertainment marketplace. We who have so long been able to enjoy CDs as they were originally defined, CDs that would play in our cars, would play in our home entertainment centers, and on our computers. It seems that era may be ending. Sigh.
Well, maybe it's our duty to share our non-DRMed mp3 collections with them then..?
I wouldn't say Therapy (big t) as much as venting. If something pisses you off, you can write about it, and maybe someone will comment on it and agree with you, which is always nice. Therapy is what you go to when you have a problem, while blogging is just blowing off some steam. Related but not the same.
I would much rather have a 30" Apple Cinema display with 2560x1600 resolution for coding. Think of all the windows you can have open an viewable at the same time (I hate minimizing/alt tab). I think I read somewhere that Carmack uses one for his coding setup (not 100% sure). They are picky about graphics cards to drive them though, because of the high res.
Especially the part about him being a journalist! That's contested by Apple and others. And the most interesting part of this case: Is any random guy with a webpage a journalist with the right to protect his sources (he can allways keep quiet, but if he's not a journalist he'll get in trouble).
So this is more like an attempt by his attorney to establish as a fact that he's a journalist.
For a minute I thought this was about the.co.uk domain, a real TLD, but this is just like slashdot deciding to sell joesblog.slashdot.org to someone. What they do with their own domain is up to them.
Because some slick salesman from redmond dropped by and gave them "inside news" that they'll discontinue support for Win 2000 "any day now"?
To be fair, there probably quite a few reasons someone might see for upgrading to Vista, but businesses who see those *will be upgrading to Vista*, not Linux. So I guess this will have minimal effect, but when they discontinue W2K support, it will be quite dramatic.
Maybe you shouldn't let your politicians do things that aren't the will of the people? Impeach Howard?

Use your bluetooth phone as a modem for Linux
I think new are added every day, as the graphs for my site (users more likely to use firefox, I'll admit) show a steady increase of firefox users.
Right now it's at 48,9%, which is pretty good. If the trend continues it'll break 50 in 2-3 weeks.
Firefox 48.9 %
MS Internet Explorer 25.8 %
Unknown 7.6 %
Safari 7 %
Mozilla 3.5 %
Opera 3.5 %
Netscape 1.2 %
Konqueror 1.1 %
Galeon 0.4 %
MultiZilla 0.3 %
Others 0.2 %

Hey, don't rag on Mario, it's still one of the greatest platformers of all time.

The best free Palm games
That would be a first nowadays: a patent with a working prototype.

Use your bluetooth phone as a modem for Linux
I'll keep that in mind the next time I enter a war-zone. Like Henrico County, VA.
On a more serious note, this looks really interesting for diving. But it's just a patent, so I don't have too much faith in a product being released.

Also worth noting: Google suggest itself is itself still in beta, but apparently, that doesn't stop them from including it in a non-beta product...

It's going to be an interesting century, that's for sure.

I'm guessing you will share my fate: Ending up on this guy's list.

I thought of that a second after I hit submit... :/ But my point still stands. It would definitely be an issue if Nominet did this to *.*.uk.

Nope, they learned their lesson from the presidential campaign.
Seems like SUN let their middle-school aged kids run their marketing department. "Studies show that DELL sucks"? Bitchin'? Ass-whooping?
Maybe some nascar fans too?
On a side note, it's quite interesting to see SUN, who used to be *the* big player do anything to grab some press.
Because some slick salesman from redmond dropped by and gave them "inside news" that they'll discontinue support for Win 2000 "any day now"?
