I use these bulbs in my house because of the cost savings over time to operate them. Now I have found that they take a small amount of time to light...maybe half a second. I have found that they work very similar to a long white floresent bulb meaning that they are dim while they warm up and after a few minutes they put off their full amount of light. I have never had one burn out or give me any trouble. I like these bulbs and am very interested in what LED technology will do in a light bulb for my lamp.
OK picture this: Step 1 push button on remote...unlock door, step 2 insert key...turn key...car starts, step 3 listen for the delightful tune that is played through your car stereo while M$ Window$ is booting up. Ummm, I am sorry that is just funny to me. Now I am not against computers in cars but really (in my opinion alot of people already can not drive well, so lets add some more complex gadgets that many do not know how to use and add that to the mix of many not knowing how to drive, and well....Geico gets rich, go figure.:) Get ready for the blue screen of death coming to a dashboard near you. If we are going to have an OS and computer in our cars....would it not be a good idea to at least have Linux running on it?
I can say this. I aman american. I am simple and mostof the time...to the point. I wouldnot buy a car that had a device like this installed...weither I could defeat it or not. That inmy book is giving too much control and power to someone else when it concerns your own life....or in this case your car. I know that we all have $$$ issues...heck I am coming out of debt myself, but forsomeoneto have that much control over your car...that is going to far. I am simple and donot like the idea of being able to start my car by dialing an 800 number such as with On-Star. If you can do that over the phone..then what else can it do that they do not tell you about? I love computers, use Linux, enjoy reading techie books, but I do have my limits and things like this "pay menow or no drive" system...and chips in my hand for "labeling" and money transactions is going to far inmy book. I choose to stay away from those things and if a car dealer has such a box in the car...I will shopsomewhere else.
Ummm, didn't we do this in the 80s folks? I think they are trying to revive a gimmick. Nothing really new here, just a rehash of "retro".
I love pinball machines and playing pinball but after playing on and off for 25 years, I am not that good. :)
