I don't think that slamming the party is really relevant for talking about the flaws in social media advertising. (Nor really is loaded terminology used to describe it.)
They may have a legal responsibility to disclose the breach, iirc California and likely other states require companies to inform people when their information is compromised
I've often wondered why we don't associate third party cookies with the page or host they were set at. e.g. If the user is visiting example.org and adsite.org sets a cookie, AdSite can only access it while the user is on example.org, if the user visits example.com then AdSite doesn't see a cookie set.
Hint to anyone peddling a new phone OS, target devices which have been abandoned. Why would someone who explicitly bought an Android device which will always be updated suddenly abandon ship and install another OS? On the other hand users who have been abandoned on an older version are much more likely to roll the dice and throw something on.
I really wish Amazon had a global setting which would allow me to disable 3rd party store results, not only does it clutter search results with duplicates, I came to purchase from Amazon, not Lou's Discount Bin.
To me this indicates that DMCA claims need to have some sort of US presence; the only disincentive for abuse of the DMCA is the potential for lawsuits for invalid claims, if the claimant doesn't have a US presence then they're entirely free from reprisal. Leo Laporte has frequently mentioned that foreign companies spuriously claim copyright on his Youtube videos in order to run ads on his content.
Perhaps DMCA ought to even require registering for copyright as a minimum for filing take down notices.
Except that doesn't appear to be the case, both applications are obviously using the api for something strictly prohibited. Find some sympathetic users that have been cut off for that reason then come make the claim
You're taxing the profits made in the country, what you're describing is the current situation: companies offshore their profits to post office boxes in tax havens like Ireland.
Focusing on Internet companies is stupid, all multi-nationals are avoiding paying appropriate taxes, close the loopholes that they're all using don't single out a particular industry.
Reading that bug report makes me incredibly glad that I've only worked on open source developer tools, if the comments on that bug report are typical I imagine Google must have high turn-over of developers on the project.
In my usage I've generally found Firefox with ABP installed to be much faster than Browser & Chrome. Its amazing how much snappier sites are on arm processors when they don't load ads, and as an added bonus accidental clicks are eliminated.
I'd really like to see a graduated green light implemented that would provide drivers with a better idea how much time is remains before changing. Perhaps a (few) additional ring(s) which would switch off in 5 or 10 second increments.
Anecdotally it feels to me that an awful lot of people don't even bother trying to stop, I frequently see people entering lights on red.
If the calls reach the point where they're screaming at your support, tell them to hang up. They aren't your customers, there isn't any reason to place the extra stress on the employees.
Depending on your customer base you may also be able to add account numbers to your pre-agent phone system.

This is pretty much it, while not hugely expensive the device isn't cheap and the only reason anyone buys a Nintendo console is for Mario & Zelda.

Or you could just use AdBlock+ which does effectively the same thing and removes the elements from the browser.
Except that the Ad agencies want to track you across different sites and won't have access to that cookie when the user is on foobar.com
Exactly, Tor books are all available DRM free through Amazon, presumably other publishers could also do this if they desired.
I'm all for DRM free but it seems like they're barking up the wrong tree with Amazon.
So I know whose asteroid crashed into my house.
The numbers are no doubt mean time before failure, so inevitably many drives will fail before this.

The surcharge was already in the price we all paid even if we weren't using credit
Or you could just use a bank card...

Done.

Zing! Too soon?

It does, its even happened to major sites like the NYT in the past.
