I would argue that most power users either have turned WebGL off, or will in the near future; exposing a new attack surface to the web will inevitably lead to exploits. Moreover Its highly unlikely that WebGL will become significant in the next 2-3 years, particularly if the mainstream (IE) audience isn't supported.
While I don't disagree that older programmers can be, and are still relevant: all the people he pointed to as part of his argument made their contributions as coders in their 20s and/or 30s.
StackOverflow is really the scourge of the Internet when you're searching for anything programming related, too many unrelated or unanswered pages appear in query results.
I agree, I think this sounds like the first Chromebook device that fulfills the promise of an inexpensive device. While I haven't used one, my suspicion is that we aren't quite there yet with the offline applications for people traveling, but probably most of what my relatives would use one for is to keep in contact which requires the net anyway.
This to me is the ridiculous part, the RFID system is sucking $261k plus upkeep out of the budget, the school isn't earning the money it is taken out of education spending! Perhaps the state shouldn't have a ridiculous daily attendance funding mechanism and just pay based on enrolment and the taxpayer wouldn't need to waste $261k per school.
In the Oracle-Google case Google re-implemented the Java APIs and did not touch or use Oracle code, in this instance nvidia would need to bind to GPL code potentially trigger GPL's viral clauses.
Kevin Rose said the other year that at Digg they found they absolutely needed people with degrees for the background in algorithms.
I think a big factor in this guys point of view is being a consultant, while there are exceptions most consultants write code they don't need to see again let alone maintain and scale for years. Rather than writing a pointless article, perhaps his time would have been better spent fixing the vulnerability known in Apache POI for the last 4-6 months.
You may want to take your own advice and install Windows, there are only a few steps which require input, and short of special cases non that require a technical user. This is not true of any Linux distribution I've installed, despite massive improvements in this area over the years.
Besides the issue isn't installation, Dell and other vendors have periodically offered systems with Linux pre-installed but these never stick around, presumably due to poor sales.
I imagine part of the reason at the moment is that the Australian dollar is much higher than it has been traditionally.
Canada has had the same issue, though I know in our case there has always been additional markup, and the UK has often been 50% more expensive.
Exactly, this isn't 1997. I've had computer cases shipped for half that and many online stores offer free shipping on orders around this amount on items significantly heavier (e.g. books).
Christianity targets the mentally ill, addicts and the depressed *constantly*. Heck, they even send people to disaster areas in the third world and preach that it was their fault for not believing in god/jesus.
Earlier this week I received an email from one of the distribution partners to tell me they were accepting orders, fortunately I noticed during the checkout process that shipping costs "couldn't be determined" at that point and would be tacked on later, mucking around with their shipping calculator it appeared that their cheapest rate is $18 or over 50% of the cost of the Pi.
is terrible and they turned it on by default?
I immediately noticed that scrolling was sluggish and at first I mistook that for a performance problem...

this will be the first time Valve creates a game or engine that doesn't result in massive headaches and nausea for a segment of the population....

I think the big question mark would be Skype.
I already had Randy Racoon shirts printed!
Pascual Gonzalez, Northside's communications director told NBC that he estimates the district has been losing about $1.7 million a year because of underreported attendance. He also said the RFID cost was $261,000 and should pay for itself within one year. You misunderstand, I was simply pointing out that the court has the power to invalidate if they feel its unconstitutional.
It could be ruled unconstitutional.
How do you know? People could be downloading their email locally but maintaining the copy on the server as backup.
You're comparing apples and oranges.

millimeter wave scanners may unzip dna strands and no studies have been done about the long term effects of human exposure, hurray!
They didn't axe it, they moved the project to Apache and added IBM as a contributor.
Not to be a jerk but.... Does anyone really think of Intel bestowing credibility in the graphics realm?

I really wonder how 'possession' of something outside the US could be a crime.

If you're looking at highly parallelizable workloads shouldn't the GPU in the AMD part be part of the equation?
Once someone makes a choice about which (phone) OS to use, they invest time in learning how it works and by purchases they've made.
Microsoft was just too late to the party, most of the interested parties had already chosen, and everyone else follows the people they know.
I've tried it on various PC's over the years (currently a 5770) and it always slows down scrolling significantly.
