  1. Hannibal was the greatest general of his era on Ars Technica's Hannibal on IBM's Cell · · Score: 1

If you read books, or at least watch the history channel... then you would know Hannibal was the man that brought elephants over the Alps and routed and slaughtered Romans by the ten of thousands using but swords and spears. The only thing people dis him about was his one mistake to not go ahead and take Rome -- instead of giving them the chance to surrender. Hell, if lack of perfection is your only flaw that's a hell of a compliment.

He also was a great politician after the Tunic wars.

  2. Re:Digital Karma on Player vs. Player Play Examined · · Score: 1

LineageII has a karma system and it works pretty well... basically once you're 'marked' with enough bad karma players and 'guardians' ( AI ) will kill you pretty quick. You have to work it off before you can get back in a town by killing monsters and avoiding everyone after you.

The guardians can pretty much nuke you're ass with one swing or swat. My favorite ones are little pixies that fly around. They do like 1000x max player health each hit hah. The walking trees are my 2nd -- they stomp PKs to death, so it's all fun.

  6. John Kerry would reinstate the draft on White House Lied About Iraq Nuclear Programs · · Score: 0, Troll

To try and bring some balance here how about this:

To meet the goals of doubling special forces and their support units, Kerry would have to reinstate draft.

Kerry voted against the 1991 gulf war, which was heavyly supported by the UN and other nations. Iraq would be in control of much of the world's oil supply, and plundering another nation if Kerry had his way. Did that not pass the "gobal test", since Iraq disagreed? Can you really trust Kerry to handle your security?

THREE PCS from the Washington State HQ of the campaign to re-elect George W. Bush were stolen at the end of last week, the Seattle Times reported.

The Seattle Times quotes the state republican party chairman as saying he believes Democrats were behind the theft.

That's because only specific machines were targeted, Chris Vance is quoted as saying.

The paper said that notebooks used by senior executives in the campaign were lifted in the burglarly. The paper said that while data on the notebooks was backed up, there's still a problem.

The data includes details about a plan to get out Republican voters, dubbed the "72 hour plan". This is a plan to make sure that all registered Republicans vote on election day, rather than sit on their butts and watch Jerry Springer or play blingo on QVC.

Democrats don't like opposing views in their own party -- look how they treat their own party members that aren't overtly liberal. I think Kerry moving back to anti-war now will finish him off. This is how Al Gore lost -- not having a message.

Well, gzip compresses text better than anything and can be decompressed at almost no cost. Maybe that's a choice to take...

However to fully support it you need OpenGL 1.5+ for all the shader sections.

  15. Well it depends... on Project GoneME Fixes Perceived Gnome UI Errors · · Score: 1

I know I personally patch GNOME often, since I hate various little things. I really hate the new file dialogs, but I haven't had time yet with work and school to rewrite those. I've redone metacity, xemacs-gnome, etc before. The main problem is people like Havoc, who control a lot of the process only want one way. Should I really have to add my own edge flipping to a window manager when they could just make it an option to disable it? I think we should have kept sawfish, since it's still superior to metacity in many ways.

Frankly spatial nautilus shows something amiss indeed! There should be an EASY way to revert back to navagation. If you didn't know what gconf was how would you even know you could revert? Why are we moving away from application preferences dialogs to no way to change at all?

*I've switched off xemacs to emacs-gtk, since imho xemacs gtk/gnome development has been dead too long and they stopped taking patches for even crash fixes.
