To me, it's not so much Wine being broken, it's the inconvenience of not being able to download from them unless you're using their product.

For my job, I occasionally go to Microsoft's download area to make a patch cd for systems that come into our office to be fixed (I work for a small ISP).

I'm looking forward to the day that a Roomba and a Aibo (or whatever those dog robot things are) have a showdown because one cut the other off. Oh the hilarity when robots start to go into a type of "road rage" and battle it out over who gets to clean the living room.

The real winner folks is the audience! (Not the homewowner tho.)

Whoa! Did he just ask for people to openly admit what technologies they're using to bypass a strict government firewall? Granted on Slashdot you'll end up with a lot of theories, but actually phrasing you question in a way meant to try to get Chinese law breakers to not only admit that they're breaking the law but to also share the method being used to break the laws......the mind boggles.

What he wants is to be able to log in after running his bot for a week and strut around saying to everyone "Look how great I am!" He wants to run around with all the best equipment he can (can't?) find and look totally awesome, but he won't know jack shit about how to play the game. It's like a pigeon pasting peacock feathers on it's ass.

The large raids were going ok on the server I used to play on (left PvP servers because of the asshats on the server I played on...heard it's not as bad on other PvP servers). When the hoarde were being attacked (which was almost constantly on my server :D) we'd notice lag when we were trying to run around the raid. I just think it was my computer because of my harddrive throwing a shit fit. Once we moved far enough away that the game wouldn't try to cache up textures for the Alliance storming us, smooth sailing again.

While not the author of the grandparent post, I've also had fairly decent luck with the servers.

I used to play Magtheridon which is a east coast PvP server. Only reason I left is because I got tired of having to watch my back while doing quests because of people being 10 levels higher then me going out killing. Once the honor system is implemented, that might decline as it punishes that kind of behavior.

Currently I play on Dalaran, which is another east coast server. That one is a normal server (PvE) and I haven't run into any problems. Only played hoarde side so I can't speak for alliance players, but 99% of the people are nice and are willing to help people new to the game.

Best watch tho. If you get too excited writing the script, you could get the shakes....and well, there goes your script!! If you're looking for cast, ask Ben Stiller. He stars in anything.

It would also seem that this is sweet, sweet revenge for IBM. They lost loads of cash by letting Billy boy keep the rights to "his" software, and they lost oodles of cash on that deal. Now they're taking away his money by trying to push people towards a free software world.
They don't lose any money from lack of software sales, they get a good amount of development done for free, and they get to stick it to Gates after all these years. If I were IBM, I'd love linux too.
