How about the suicidal dickheads who ride on the shoulder of unlighted roads at night, in dark clothing with no lights or reflectors? I have the greatest respect for those cyclist who go out of their way to make sure I see them, but very little respect for those I can see until they are 20 feet in front of my car. Please, cyclists -- buy yourself florescent vests, and the brightest headlight and blinking red rear light you can find! It make everybody safer. (I've also had cyclists point out that I had pulled out of a driveway at night with my lights off -- something they were entirely within their rights to do, as they probably didn't see me until the last minute either.)
You can take pictures or video, but can't record conversations. Strangely enough, pictures are legal anywhere you don't have a reasonable expectation of privacy, but recording audio without people's knowledge is illegal by federal and most state wiretapping statutes -- a clear case of the law not keeping up with technology. (How is audio recording any different than video recording someone's face and showing it to a lip reader?)
How do the Hindus feel about their ancestors being forced into manual labor like this, when they could have used human beings instead? And how does the cost of buying and maintaining a cow treadmill compare to the cost of a solar power array that would generate 2 kilowatts without the constant trouble of cleaning all the cow shit off of it? Cows are one of the least efficient animals at turning grain into meat; I suspect they are also grossly inefficient at turning grain into power. If you take that same grain, ferment it, distill it, and use it to power an engine, how much more or less power output would you get?
So, you feel you have the right to tear out the fuel filler restrictor so you can put leaded fuel in your unleaded-only Ford or Honda too? At the very least, that voids the warranty.
Somebody has seen Avatar too many times... although coming from your nick, this statement is almost as disturbing as the Goth t-shirts that read "Don't be silly, there is no such thing as vampires!"
So, what insights into RIAA behavior can we gain by studying these microbes? I'd say they are lower than whale shit, but they appear to be at exactly the same depth as whale shit... (and those microbes are pretty low too!)
My father still keeps a newspaper clipping of his father's obituary. So yes, it used to sell more papers, since you had to buy multiple copies to send to all your relatives.
That would assume that school officials got into that low-paying, thankless job because they were reasonable people, and not because they were petty, incompetent control freaks who realized that the only people they could successfully push around were young children.
I'm curious as to why a company would spend a lot of money making something that other people will give away for free. IBM had a traditional business model that involved giving the OS away for free to leverage hardware sales, and did quite well with it. IBM supports Linux because it can still be used to leverage hardware sales, but the support costs are much less -- all they really need to do is support the drivers specific to their own hardware. Sun and Apple also used software to leverage hardware sales.
Oracle, as a traditional software-only vendor, does not understand this. However, I believe the best strategy for Oracle going forward is to sell databases pre-installed on hardware they control. This both allows them to charge a lot more (see Network General Sniffer) and lowers their software support costs.
The laptops were only allowed to be taken home if the family had paid a $55 insurance fee. This family had not. This laptop was never suspected of being stolen, only of having been taken home without permission -- and the first photograph would have confirmed that. The other 399 photos were completely unnecessary, and can only be explained as voyeuristic spying. Hence the lawsuit.
After you've told him he does not have your legal permission to contact you, it IS illegal in most states -- it's called "harassment". See this page
Rush Limbaugh? What are you doing posting to slashdot? And when _are_ you leaving the country for Costa Rica like you promised?
drove through Wisconsin last week, saw mounted cows I can only assume they were being mounted by bulls, and not Wisconsin dairy farmers...

Or better yet, just wait in ambush in a tunnel, then take the memory chip out of the device.

"lovemaking device"?!? Sorry, but the vibrate feature just isn't that great!
Quick, cover it with sediment, wait a few million years, and voila... more oil!
Socrates wasn't so smart... in fact, I have it on good authority that his last words were, "I drank what?!?"

Every morning I check the obits and the financial pages. If I'm not listed as either dead or a millionaire, I get up and go to work.
Me wonders how much the newspapers will charge themselves for documenting their own demise.
Wait... if it's a flying car, does it count as both a "car accident" AND a "while flying" accident? In which case, the adage doesn't change.
If it can sexually service men, clean up afterwards, and then fetch beer and a pizza... then our species is doomed!
You mean like that DARPA TCP/IP project... that was certainly unlikely to succeed at all!
By "servant", you mean "sexbot", right?

As if we needed any more proof that black holes suck.

Can you send me a picture of your junk?
Sure, right here
