    No 'sane IT department' would deploy version one of anything, generally it's best to wait for version three. I don't see any evidence that 'hardware makers' are causing delays in Win7 as it most likely it will come pre-installed on new hardware.

    Actually no, the NC was seen as a good revenue stream by the originators and only seen as a threat if you were living in Redmond and saw every new development as one less Windows license.

    Since when was the release of a new Operating System seen solely in terms of the producers of a mediocre GUI OS working out of Redmond. It also begs the question as to all the negative press about a yet to be delivered platform and the total silence regarding Apples offerings.

    Microsoft was hired on by IBM to create the OS for the yet to be designed IBM PC. IBM lost control of the platform because of a number of reasons. Columbia Data Products figured out how to cleanroom the BIOS and companies such as Compaq produced much cheaper knockoffs in the far east. IBM gave Microsoft a non-exclusive license for PC-DOS little realizing that the clone market would overtake their own efforts, ultimately leading to its total exit from the IBM PC business.

    The people have a right to know what its government is doing on their behalf. Generally, if it can't stand the cold light of day, then they shouldn't be doing it. The ACTA secret agreement being a case in point.

    What exactly were the problems with TradElect and not caused by the underlying platform. According to this an 'external test environment' was in place, at least since Jan 2009.
