After a long day of programming, there is nothing better than a woman putting her arms around you to give you the strength to keep going. We don't just do it for ourselves. We do it for others, that can't do it for themselves.

Its something that can't be avoided, since I have found that its more PEBKAC than computer errors, but yet its our fault now, not the technology.

Oh, you will be suprised at what I get asked to do, and this is from business people with more money to spare than I do. "Hey, can you crack this software for me?" "Can't I just load this one copy on all the machines?" So many times I have to stick my neck out and say I can't do that, or that we need to buy more licenses. With that I get an angry face and a huff from them because I didn't want to compromise myself to save them a couple bucks. I became the IT manager of this company months ago and I'm still trying to fingure out if all our installs of MS Office are ligit or not, since the company didn't keep a record of anything, not even the disks that came with the PCs.

To answer that, I say take your chances, because my company has ligitimate copies, so I don't have to worry about if it will let me update or not.

Well, universities can put a cap on how much a student can download. At Penn State it was 1.5 gigs of info could be downloaded when I went there. That would mean you could get one iso a week, and have room for other file transfers, or get two and have no more bandwidth for anything. But then again, PSU ran their own file servers for linux iso and their own debian repository, so I never really needed to use that much bandwidth. Oni is right that it is also a tool, that needs to be open for researchers and professors, because they really really need it.
