And you are a monster for lying in such a gruesome fashion.
Except, unlike you, I haven't lied about a thing. I'm most certainly not lying to try qand drum up support for a mass murderer and traitor which is what you are doing.
And you know precisely NOTHING about my personal life. FWIW, he was injured flying an F-18 during the FIRST Gulf War in 1991.
OK, you're still supporting a monster who has murdered hundreds of thousands of people for his own personal profit.
So go screw yourself in your delusions - and may you be the first on the firing line of failure.
Whatever, you cowardly, treasonous, lying sack of shit.
Not in Vista. That's the entire point of UAC - even an admin account doesn't run as root, it needs user intervention ("Cancel or Allow") to elevate priveleges. Exactly like sudo.
No, it's not exactly like sudo. Sudo actually provides some level of security by requiring a password. Asking the user to click a stupid button all the time does zero for security and a lot for annoyance.
What he's saying is that if there is no solution that doesn't involved a terminal session (which occurs frequently in Ubuntu from my experience-- try getting a Hauppauge PVR-250 card, or a AirPort Express card working without one!),
I've got the 350 working fine with no terminal session apart from `emerge ivtv`. If I wasn't using Gentoo, I'd have installed ivtv via Synaptic or whatever. Udev picks it up at boot and auto installs it. No problem.
Maybe your setup is different and you really did have bizarre problems, but I've tried your challenge and passed easily, so it really isn't much of a challenge. I haven't a clue about the airport card. My laptop has an Intel ipw3945 card and it works fine as well.
Sure there can be issues with any OS, but it's not as bad as you make it out to be for Linux.
Then why do they lie, why do they continue to sell lies, and why don't they tell the truth about how good our troops really are doing on the ground?
A: They're really not doing all that well regardless of the lies you like to tell yourself. It's a civil war which was caused by the power vacuum we left because we didn't put any thought into dealing with the situation we chose to create. B: They lie because that's what they do. They will push the corporate agenda regardless of reality.
Because Steve Capus is a money-grubbing idiot who really doesn't care about anything other than the bottom line ratings - as proven by his stunts in the last three weeks.
That describes every major media outlet, so you've really added nothing with that.
Sorry, don't buy it..
Of course you don't. You've chosen to believe the nonsense that you do based on "religious" beliefs, not reason or facts, so you will never be able to deal with reality honestly as long as you refuse to deal with the fact that you were wrong from the start, and the scam that you chose to be fooled by was transparent from the start.
You're welcome to your opinion, though, seeing how you don't know anything about which you base that opinion on.
You're the sick weirdo who is defending the scumbag who actively chose to have your husband who you claim to love shot up for the personal profit of a few friends, so it's quite obvious that you have neither facts nor sanity on your side. Seriously, you claim to love a husband who you claim got shot up in Iraq and instead of standing up for him or the rest of the troops you're standing up for the monster who created the situation and caused all the death and destruction.
That is really deeply sick, twisted, and monstrous.
Whatever the intelligence was, the democrats had the same exact intelligence. They have the same amount of blame. Bush lied doesn't cut it when you are on the senate and house intelligence committees.
No, it doesn't cut it.
I think the lot of them who voted for this war were either: Complicit in the snow job, in which case they're guilty as well. or Stupid enough to get duped by such a transparent scam, in which case they barely should be allowed responsibility for themselves, let alone anybody else.
Neither of those are comparable with taking that bogus nonsense to the State of the Union address and bald faced lying to the American people and Congress in order to sell a war which his cabal had been agitating for since at least 2000.
That is a number of major impeachable offenses right there.
But when this administration is only going to be around for another year, and it's quite obvious that absolutely little is going to be done due to the relationship between the current Congress and the White House, what exactly is the point other than to send the White House yet another message that the Congress isn't happy, and to do even more strutting about?
Well, for me it's primarily a question of integrity. Bush, Cheney and their crew of thugs have devastated America's integrity. Our failure as citizens to do anything about their lies, crimes, and murders (I hold Bush personally responsible for the murder of everybody who has died as a result of the Iraq invasion) has burned and pissed on the remaining tatters of our former integrity.
Unless Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, Wolfowitz and the rest are impeached (where relevant) prosecuted, convicted, and executed we will never again have any honor or integrity as a nation.
So, yes, it is much more than stupid political games. It's a fundamental question as to what kind of a nation we want to be, and I for one want nothing to do with the criminal lying theocratic fascist state that these sick monsters are trying to inflict on this nation.
Of course, like any good conspiracy theory, you can't prove George Tenet didn't become an political tool of the almighty Bush administration.
However, we do know that Tenet flat out told Bush *not* to use the garbage intelligence yet Bush went ahead anyway and stated bogus unsubstantiated intelligence which he knew was such as if it were solid 100% certain fact.
Given the tone of your post and the fact that you mentioned Cheney and Halliburton together led me to believe you are from America or at the very least you support the Democratic Party.
And given the fact that you automatically make a completely insane leap of illogic, you've merely demonstrated your deep lack of critical thinking skills.
Disliking massive corruption, theft and murder automatically makes one a Democrat? WTF are you smoking? The Democrats are hardly the party of truth and justice.
You really need to pull your head out of your ass and notice that people from all over the political spectrum can't stand these sick criminal monsters.
You're clearly a partisan hack since you see any disagreement with your dear leader as proof of support for the "other party". That's stupid and it makes no sense. The fact that you got busted for your blind ignorance by a foreigner and then still tried to defend it as rational is really just the icing on the cake.
No, I support our military, no matter the cost. Period.
If there were a single scrap of truth to that, then you'd actually be doing something to support them instead of stabbing them in the back which is what you are doing.
You owe it to the people you claim to love to deal honestly with reality. You have failed completely at that.
All those dead soldiers? They'd still be alive if you and those like you would pull your heads out of your asses and honestly deal with reality.
No, you'd rather see good men die due to your cowardice and deep lack of honesty.
Absolutely. We fight because war profiteers make a lot of money off of war and so they decided we should get involved in another one.
Are you truly so stupid that you haven't figured that one out by now?!?
Please don't spout any drivel about "defending America/liberty/freedom" or any of that other stupid crap idiots drool on about because they're too dumb to pay attention.
Do you not understand that the civilians in Iraq need us there far more than we want to be there???
Do you not understand that our utter failure to plan for this well understood and easily predicted situation demonstrates our incompetence in dealing with it? Of course not. That would involve honestly assessing our entire basis for starting that idiotic war based solely on lies and realizing how badly your vaunted reasoning skills have failed you, failed your country and failed every one of the hundreds of thousands poor dumb suckers who have been murdered by Bush with your active support.
As for 'intent' - aiding and abetting the enemy in a time of war sure as hell is sedition at the very least in my book,
That would make *you* guilty of sedition as you are defending the worst enemies out nation has ever had in the face of all facts and basic reality.
Sorry, but when you're the one defending criminals, terrorists, and traitors, then you ave given up the right to play the patriotism card. You aren't one and you are actively aiding our enemies.
Give your nonsense a rest. We're really deeply sick of hearing the same moronic lies repeated ad nauseum.
step outside your blinder box and look at different perspectives, not the ones you're being spoonfed by the leftists running the media outlets of this country,
Good lord you are deeply stupid.
GE owns NBC. They made billions in new weapons sales by *selling* the Iraq war. It's pretty similar across the board of the major media organizations.
When somebody whines about "leftists running the media" it's safe to disregard what they have to say since they are so entirely delusional and out of touch with reality.
So, you've demonstrated conclusively that you don't have a clue what you're talking about and that you are an ignorant fool. Sorry to be so blunt, but you insisted on proving it to be true.
You should look at mysql cluster. I'm yet to use it, but for a write heavy and high-availability SQL DB it's a pretty good option.
The major downside of Clustering in 5.0 is that you need to be able to hold your entire database in RAM. This is supposed to have gone away with 5.1. We're about to go ahead with testing of that.
Carter may have banned wine at the white house but I don't recall him trying to get prayer in schools, outlaw abortion, birth control, etc. He could be a total religious wackaloon for all I care so long as he makes no law about what I should be doing.
Even saying it was "banned" is a little much.
While he was in office, the White House was his home. I enjoy a drink, so serve it at my parties. I have friends who don't drink and some don't even like it around. Their house, their rules, and it's never really an issue;-)
It seems to me that they're too busy trying to derail the train by picking off the last carriage in line. The should be going for the locomotive, by actually trying to educate people.
I agree with you except for the minor point where I think they should just get out of the way of the train and do something useful with themselves. Regardless, either is much better than this spouting of ridiculous nonsense that seems to be most of what our political leaders are capable of these days.
Show of hands, folks - who else in here could've even hoped to have thought that the impending events of 9/11 or the war @ Iraq was known "for a fact" to the average US citizen in 2000?
What does the fact that the "average" citizen doesn't really give a flying fuck have to do with the fact that had you spent a little bit of time reading what they posted on their own fucking website then you would have been informed as to their intended actions?
Nothing.
If you cared at all about who and what you were voting for, then the website of the think tank composed of the people Bush was already choosing up for his cabinet and his immediate family would be the obvious place to look, Sparky. The fact that you're an ignorant fool and too fucking lazy to take your responsibility as a citizen seriously is established. Be a man and deal with the fact of your tremendous failure as a human being and a citizen and don't try to excuse your idiocy by pretending that you couldn't have known what you were merely too fucking lazy to bother to even look into.
By that goofball logic, I certainly hope you had never voted for:
Carter: Nope, too young. Clinton: Nope Bush Sr.: Nope, the guy is a fucking monster living off of family wealth accumulated in part from funding the nazis while we were at war with them. Reagan: Too young for the first time, not a fucking moron the second time.
Kennedy (Cuba, Vietnam), Johnson (Vietnam), Nixon (Ditto): Way too young.
So, no, I have never voted for any of these scumbags. It really doesn't take much though or sense to see through the bullshit, but you have to at least try.
You can't just remain an ignorant fool and then attack the people who are actually paying attention. Apart from a fool, it makes you dishonest.
Only a flaming asshat with an ideological axe to grind could possibly sit there and spew that much illogical bile... get a grip already.
No, somebody who actually takes responsibility for their own actions. There is nothing illogical in what I said. You are deeply ignorant of the basic facts of the situation and rather than do anything to inform yourself, you prefer attacking honest intelligent people who do pay attention.
Much easier to hide from the reality of what you worked to cause than to be a man, stand up and take responsibility for it, isn't it little whiny coward?
If you didn't know *for a fact* in 2000 that a vote for Bush was a vote for misusing an attack on the US as an excuse to invade Iraq then you have no fucking business voting.
Wow. It's official: You are the dumbest person I've ever seen commenting on Slashdot.
So suggesting that people who plan on voting should take a couple of minutes to familiarize themselves with the positions of the people they're voting for makes me the dumbest person you've ever seen posting here?
Wow, you're right. Voting based solely on bullshit adds makes one truly brilliant. Thank you for showing me the error of my ways. I'll be sure to strive for maximal ignorance just like you.
No? Then what does "Be a patriot. Murder a Republican" mean in your sig?
It means that they should be punished for their crimes and stopped from continuing them. That will not solve all the worlds ills, but it will eliminate this nation's most dangerous enemy.
Someone is liable to think you're serious. And if you are serious, then you're a psycho nutbag.
Ahhh, so being a patriot is now considered "psycho nutbag"?!? The pussification of America is really pathetic.
Suggesting that we should kill other Americans to make your point -- even in jest -- is the precise sort of thing that encourages further erosion of liberties.
These are not "Americans" they are the declared *enemies* of America or haven't you paid one god dmaned bit of attention to anything they've done for the last few *decades*?!? So, do nothing useful as you suggest leads to the erosion of liberties. Do something helpful and the same thing? Well, I'd rather at least try to do something constructive.
Revolutions are not won by killing the right people off. If that were true, then our war in Iraq would be justified.
No it wouldn't. Killing Saddam has nothing to do with the reasons for the war. That's stupid to even suggest.
The crazy you're spewing from your keyboard can only serve to convince others that further erosion of liberty is necessary.
But they are already convinced of that. That is the elephant in the middle of the room which you keep trying to ignore. They are actively working towards that goal right now, Sparky. Standing up to those scum does not change that in any way shape or form. It can not make it worse since they already demand that it be as bad as can be.
If you look up the definition of "counterproductive" in the dictionary, you know what you'll find? The definition of counterproductive. Which you are being.
No, sitting on your ass whining about how I'm being mean to some sick subhuman monsters is counterproductive. Ending their crime spree would be productive.
You are, of course, also right that murdering all the Republicans will solve the world's ills.
Wow, what a far out idea. I, of course, never said anything of the sort. I'm not interested in "solving the world's ills" as that is impossible. What I am concerned about is stopping an insane group of thugs from their unprovoked savage assaults on my nation and my liberty. Can you put forward any other workable method of stopping these thugs from their crimes?
Reason is out. Voting is out. What else would you propose we try and how many times?
And truly, as a one-party nation, then truly will our votes count!
Idiocy.
I doubt the Democrats, noble as they are, would ever misuse that power, so why not blindly follow them wherever they go?
Because they are neither noble, nor pursuing my interests. Blind following is how we got to this fucked up position in the first place.
We know that all Republicans are truly evil, destitue souls devoid of any quality worth, as you suggest, allowing them to live.
Their election of and continuing support of a sociopathic mass murdering terrorist proves all of that absolutely.
Were they to show some integrity and demand his impeachment, prosecution and execution then they would have done *something* right for once, but that's not what we're seeing. We're seeing them dive ever deeper into delusion and repeating the increasingly ridiculous lies of this administration. All because they're too cowardly to admit that they were wrong, and that they were fooled by a completely transparent scam.
You are truly a person not to lose sight of the larger picture, the grand scheme of things. You are not one of those who is too quick to judge! You are slow to anger, and measured in your response.
Indeed. All of those things are true. My "response" has been decades in the coming. That is quite slow taking much time to evaluate it in the cntect of the bigger picture.
Sorry, but making up a pack of idiotic lies in order to deceive people into paying through the nose for mass murder is not done by decent human beings. It is not actively supported by any either. It really doesn't matter how large of a picture you look at.
After I click Submit, I will stab myself through the heart with a kitchen knife, that my stupidity might never harm the world again!
Wow, a Republican lacking the courage and integrity to do the right thing, but still lying about it. Will wonders never cease.
My uncle, as well as numerous local farmers have bee hives that have stayed in the same place for a decade or several decades. The bees have all died off in the last couple years. Something is going on, and it's not trucking.
OK, well his opinion on it is better than most people's. Does he even have a guess as to why it's happening?
And you are a monster for lying in such a gruesome fashion.
Except, unlike you, I haven't lied about a thing. I'm most certainly not lying to try qand drum up support for a mass murderer and traitor which is what you are doing.
And you know precisely NOTHING about my personal life. FWIW, he was injured flying an F-18 during the FIRST Gulf War in 1991.

Granted maybe he should have used a better unit, like "almost two kilodozens" ?
OK I'm now officially looking for an opportunity to use "kilodozens" in conversation.

Actually I am Michael Rohan Smith
;-)
;-)
Well, if it's not from Sci-Fi it's from fantasy
but the man from mars was (IIRC) Valentine Michael Smith.
Doh! Right you are.
I was once a member of the Michael Smith web ring, believe it or not.
I believe it... you have no reason to lie about that
Pretty funny though. How many members were there?
Definately sounds like Jacob Burrough's theory
;-)
And a universe for every slashdot meme.
If your middle name starts with "V", I don't think you have much place to talk Mr. Smith
