    Is this technology being used in current drives? The reason I asked is because I wonder how this "patent" relates to the $100 500GB drives that we can buy these days.

    Another had a custom listening room built as an annex to his house.


    I'm not sure what's the 'problem' with having a dedicated room for listening. If all the room are the same in terms of acoustics, then you may as well listen the stuff in your bathroom. I'm not an audiophile but I do occasionally record and mix for local musicians. I've never came across a mix/master engineer do his work in a bathroom.

    .... in a 'wholesale' grocery place, costco and bestbuy has the practice that there's this guy standing at the exit of the shop and will examine people's receipt and make a marking on the receipt. I wonder if it is blatant violation of civil rights. Somehow I never heard there's any similar incident in here.

    When you have 2 ruling political parties, it is easy to make things black or white. When you have about 5 or so like many European countries, you have to include intermediate shades of color. That's also probably why there are no run-off federal elections for President.


    From an outsider point of view, I see US has 2 shades of grey, but not really black and white.

    Honestly, because of the pricing, for the last 10 years I simply did not buy or listen to anything (maybe a few) new on CDs. Continuous price drop may draw me back to the store. I never liked listening to downloaded stuff anyway and the packaging means something to me.

    If you have not notice people have tried put Skype on their SDA but the cpu on the SDA is somewhat of a limiting factor. It works though.

    Maybe they can't recognize siblings at all. Maybe the genetics are close enough so that the plant can not distinguish its own root from that of its siblings.


    This is sort of saying, they can recognize non-siblings/own roots because the genetics are so different.

    The unions don't fight for those employees, because it is an old boys club, and they don't care unless you're actually part of the union.


    This is the part I have most trouble with. It's so sad to see my friends still working as a 'temp' after so many years. Just beyond my belief. May be it is different in different industry?

    I don't have much 1st hand experience but the school teachers union here is just an old-boys club - the new grad will need to work as a sub (non-union) for at least 5-6 years before even having a chance to become a real teacher. While there are 'life-time' teachers there that never advance themselves and used notes that's 20 years old... Unions always give an image of 'slack', 'you scratch my back, I scratch yours', 'non-competing'.
