The computer is not smarter then the monkey using it.
If all the users run as administrator as most users do in windows then what good is it requiring administrator rights. They already have them.
True a *nix OS is better at protecting from unwanted installation of programs for a few reasons. One reason is because with the windows browser is so closely tied to the Operating system itself. As any *nix operating system not so closely tied. Also in the *nix type operating systems the end user is by default mostly unprivileged. As with a windows user generally there is ether no user at all (that defaults to administrator level user) or there is a user with administrative rights.
So that concludes that the main reason why Windows computers receive so much spy ware is because of the end user. If End users would take the appropriate percussions by first on day to day use run as a limited user. Running on a user with Administrative rights is like running a *nix system as root all the time it is just not smart. Second take the attitude that most web pages can not be trusted. Why ads ads ads marketing people like keeping a eye on you and how you use your money. Active X should not be used on a regular webpage. I am surprised how many times I browse the web with ActiveX prompting me to accept most of the time I click NO and the page works fine. Third do not download unusual programs. Forth do not click those banner ads. Last of all Do not let anyone do anything on your computer remotely or otherwise without giving them just enough permissions to do the job. If all those things are followed you will have one of 2 things or both. One a secure computer or two a annoyed user.
I get a lot of people all the time that do not use someone's code for there program just because it may have bugs in it then they spend more money having someone write custom code. Then having someone use existing code and check the reliability of the code contribute it back to the open source community.
Simple it would not see the smart thing to do is have one or 2 showrooms all digital or have digital and 35mm. I personaly think looking at It from a buisness perspective is a smart move. Cost wize the 35mm fils are easaly scratched and expencive. However I would not do it via satalite that can have some technical issues of its own.
Not to mention the security issues. First of all Somone can just interupt the signal now true they would have to have a decoder and a bunch of other stuff so it accul might be rather secure but shure would have a bunch of attempts.
Me personaly I would go all digital but have a few showrooms that have 35mm. For the delivery of the midea I would use dvd's.
I think amarica online online would be too slow.
Anyways enough with the kidding I do not get the point for all these RPG's. Do company's think that we have nothing better to do then play games. I know I have lots better that I could do then play a RPG.
Ethecly speeking yes it is not free.
But in today's world lawyers and marketers can say no you are not paying for the item the item is free.
Becouse technicly you are not you are paying for another service.
you also got to put in mind the work that it takes to measure "stability". When all in fact someting that looks stable may be completely unstable just becouse you have not tested it yet and it could be a key feature in the program.
What would be interesting is looking at the vcs (version control system) that the debian project uses. And the thing about open scouce that makes so many pepole scared of it is that there is no big huge company watching over it with milliions of dollers to pay programers to releace things on time. However Large highly supported Openscouce projects get fast updates simply becouse someone finds a bug sudmits it and the developers fix the bug. You got to remember how many bug fix supports that a OS would get.
Whatever there licence was at the time I gess it is noegzistance now. At the time I went in to there site to read there licence and see what it was all about the link to the licence was broken.
I wonder if too many pepole from here looked for that link.
I think I acculy might create a NwL. I think it would be useful from the buisness side of things. For example a project you are offering for free and do not have the time to support it. So you do not get a million emails a day of how anoying your product is.
One thing that perl is good for that I hope it continues to be good for in the future in command line scripting.
