The funny thing is the grind to max level at 80 isn't that hard. It can reputedly be done in 5-10 days of solid play without abusing any bugs or quickfixes. I'm an extremely casual player and I've made level 40 in less than two weeks. When I played WOW it took me about 8 months to get to level 30 of the then level 60 level cap. And yes I am THAT casual, maybe an hour 2-3 nights during the week and some decent 3-5 hour sessions at the weekend.
I mean really - how many female barbarian warriors have ever existed - and could they ever go toe to toe with their male counterparts? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boudica
Forbid councils, and other government bodies in general, from accessing phone records and email? Forbid law agencies from taking finger prints? Make it illegal for the police to arrest you on the off chance they make a mistake? More people were getting convicted of committing crimes they had nothing to do with 20 years ago when we didn't have all this technology. Now we have it and can improve on false convictions and you don't want to use it?
Google for "led grow lights" and you'll see plenty of panels. I'm using a fluorescent set-up at the minute but can't wait for LED to become more mainstream. And I'm not even growing pot, just capsicum.
The original post looks a bit like a stealth ad for the SF Book club TBH. And Ilium isn't exactly hard to find. http://www.amazon.com/Ilium-Dan-Simmons/dp/0380817926/
The only failure was using the system effectively. CCTV monitoring failed because it wasn't being utilized effectively. The police admit that CCTV wasn't being used because going through hours of recordings was regarded as boring and for most crimes they couldn't be bothered.
So complaining about an invasion of privacy that failed to solve crimes isn't accurate. The complaint is that there were a lot of cameras out there not being used to solve crimes. For most of the time the only thing watching you was the camera and they don't care.
What's happening now is that the police are attempting to train staff to go through recordings and actually use the tools at their disposal. So until that's being done the argument about potential breaches of privacy (in public places) vs crime-fighting benefits is moot. There's no breach of your privacy if noone is watching you. There's no benefit to fighting crimes if the tools aren't used.
Maybe there are some real technical challenges to making this "pervasively online yet not at risk from griefers" panacea they appear to promise. I never thought about it before but what's to stop a proliferation of goatse-inspired artwork appearing in your game? Is the user-generated content going to be screened?
Disclaimer: I'm an atheist. But isn't the main argument that they have FAITH and therefore can believe in a god without needing proof. And in any event plenty of religious people will tell you they "feel" their god within themselves. More to the point isn't it ironic that Dawkins is appearing on a show that has been portraying the Doctor as a Messiah figure for the past three series?
The reverse may be true. While the majority of the population is amusing themselves online the introverts will be off in their corners reading their books without fear of interruption.
There will always be music made for 'profit', and there will always be music made for the hell of it, but I don't think that means that one or the other will stick firmly to a specific distribution model. I read a quote from Paul McCartney recently along the lines that he and John Lennon would say "Let's go write a swimming pool". It's always about the money unless the only other person hearing the music is your cat.
I had the distinction of getting chucked out of the computer room at school by a prefect because I wanted to program one of the BBC B computers when there was a Defender tournament going on.
I'd settle for Facebook making new privacy busting "features" opt-in instead of opt-out.
The BBC ran a Money Programme show about social sites earlier in the year and a lot of the people interviewed were shocked and disappointed that their information was being skimmed for advertising purposes. They just wanted to be left alone to enjoy their online embroidery circles, or whatever. But at the end of the day someone has to pay. Assuming you're unable or unwilling to disable the ads isn't it better to be looking at TARGETTED ads rather than random ones?
Isn't the real problem that the games that DO incorporate PhysX hardware support don't really showcase the technology in any carnal desire type manner. There's no equivalent of GLQuake, that drove adoption of the original 3D cards.

It's the Turing Test in reverse. Eventually we'll all be so dumb a machine can pass for human.

If you're buying from Dell then it's going to be the same hardware on the Windows or Linux machine.

I'd second (or third) the library idea and join a SF community forum to ask for book recommendations (eg http://www.sf-fandom.com/ ).
Pretty sure GBPVR on Windows would also ignore the broadcast flag.
Ebay?

But long story short, your great grandfather still got shot. Having a gun didn't protect him at all.
Elephants can't jump.
Nope, it's a full on SSD.
