Hmm.. Peter Gabriel's SledgeHammer would be a nice "commercial" theme... but what about "Hammer Smashed Face" by Cannibal Corpse? It seems that's what they want to do to Intel anyway. it just *screams* Death Metal. (It's on the Ace Ventura 1 Soundtrack, in case anyones interested)
Kick Ass! I got a similar setup... 'cept Sony 5x DVD. only problem i had was Win98 crashed on me cuz i started an Unreal(tm) window at the same time. (it was an accident, i was trying to open something else)
1) Try telnet, or ssh... or some similar remote terminal program. It is unix, and it can do that. Or ftp to the server... (of course there's security issues and all, but it could work when done properly)
2) 24/7 isn't *really* necessary. my school (a university) has a Sun server. if it goes down after hours (about 7pm) it doesn't come back up until the next work day. (yup, monday morning for us weekend people) And this server is used for grad research (the main course for my shcool) so it is kinda critical. but they havent fired the IS crew yet.
3) Sure, it's not that hard to run a lab. it'd be kinda like a library situation, just need some people to work as monitors... extra credit?
It's strange. Before I got into computers (Junior Yr. High School, about 6 years ago) I was a truant myself. Except I'd hang out in arcades, movies, comic shops and so on. THey'd all have a "no one under 18 between 8am and 3:30pm" policy or whatever. now truants are computer geeks. My, how the world changes in such a short time. programming is what made me stay in school.. (the cute chica that used to sit next to me in english class helped a little too)... now i'm about to graduate with a BS in CS (hey, i made a rhyme!) and now the computers are making kids skip school? Funny, really... Being an American born Filipino it makes me wonder if the schools over there even have computers and internet. I've never been there, and from family tales and photos it looks like it's pretty underdeveloped... At least the areas where my family is from.
Hey, can somebody give me some pointers here... (no, not *p) I tried the link (netsol.com/blahblah)all i get is a timeout.
and the mail.dotcomnow.com gives me a login screen, but it says it failed to auth when i try the standard lastname##/lastnamensi combo. after a few tries it gives a "free web mail" page but that's it. I didn't recieve an e-mail from NSI, but I did register with them, so i'm partially worried they might have kicked me off the boat.
wtf? can't we mount (he said mount) a petition against this sort of crap? Or at least/. them for it? I say we lay a corporate smack-down on them and let those roodie-poo, candy-assed NSI people know who brings them the money...
Extinct for a reason? What reason would that be? They were killed off by european settlers to protect sheep and chickens (which there were plenty of). They were killed off by wild dogs that were introduced into their own habitat, and they were killed off by foreign diseases. The reason they are extinct is because of our greed. Read the fact sheet here and please see my other post below.
Of course, there will be issues regarding this. Many people have seen the movies based on it, and many can see the problems with it. But it's not a T-Rex or an alien species. It's an animal that was put to extinction by mankinds own selfish stupidity. Thylacine has interacted with mankind before, it should have no problem adjust to a simple 133 years of change (1866-1999). Why not use the technology (that probably killed some of these animals) to bring them back? It's understandable we should let natural extinction alone (Dinosaurs, mammoths, etc) but why not try to right our wrongs?
Ok... just something that bothers me here: "required legions of geeks to just get it to work." The same can be said for Windows NT/9x/2k, except that they are required to take 6 exams and be MCSE to get their OS to work.
Hmm... From reading the webpage, it seems they adapted the "Lord of the Clans" Story to this one. Looks like they made it a little more interesting too. (Everyone break out the Starcraft CD to view the preview!) I enjoyed the little cartoon... The game looks good, but i'm gettting tired of all the Quake clones and [w|st]arcraft clones out today. FREECELL FOREVER!

s/he meant ps, as in the unix term to list processes...
ps -a
