Considering that most of the updates seem to be security related I doubt keeping your non-internet PC up-to-date with the latest patches is too terribly important.
I have a couple XP update CDs sitting around my place, so they definitely exist and come in handy.

That's probably because many people (especially younger kids) just see the "pretty" CG factor stacked on top of some slick actions scenes, and it keeps their attention.
As an adult, have you ever looked back and watched movies or shows you loved as a kid and realized how completely god awful they are with their completely inane storylines, acting, and plot? That's exactly what the prequals are.
I loved the original trilogy as a kid and still love the original trilogy as an adult, not just because I have fond childhood memories of them but because they are good movies. They are what the prequals should have been- loved by children yet also loved by adults.

Opera 8 Released

Considering that many of the features Firefox made famous were introduced previously in Opera...
Opera seems to be the little browser that tries out the new and innovative stuff, other projects come along and pick some of that stuff out, then the copycats seem to get the credit for it:(
Anyway I'm quite happy that Slashdot carried this story, as I've been waiting for Opera 8 for some time now.
Realize that that's on the Purdue servers. In other words, it's on a University network that's used to handling tens of thousands of users without breaking a sweat.
If you look at the University's network graphs you'll see that there's really no activity that's too far out of the ordinary.
