So how is giving away Android locking everyone into using Google? If I use Android, is it impossible to use Bing? Does it crash? Any other sites that suddenly don't work? Are they going to charge me for Android next year?
Could there be a clue here for the cretins that run the media industry?
Yes. The clue would be "morons pay for anything with DRM on it" since most bottled water is just tap water put in a bottle, with some additions to increase its shelf life. And people happily pay for it.
So their name was used on advertising, but they still had to pay for a booth and now they can't even attend? Wow. Time for a lawsuit to have their name removed, and for attendees to complain about false advertising.
Okay, the Swedes aren't very litigious (being Vikings they tend to settle disputes with their axe:) ) but still.. this sucks.
Some people are forming independent unions - the Chinese government is quite scared of that. Some other people are pressing the bureaucrats in existing state unions to become more effective. Given that there is a (limited) form of democracy in these unions, once you get a lot of angry people in the meetings they are able to outvote, outshout or physically remove state stooges from their positions. In any case, the Chinese unions are slowly getting more balls, if only to try and defuse the tension. However, in the past this scenario hasn't really worked out for the ruling government, so the Chinese bureaucracy is in difficult straits there.
Already, working conditions are greatly improving. Instances of (real) slave labor have all but disappeared. Pay is rising. These are natural processes that do not require unions.
Natural? Everywhere in China these have been hard fought items. Only in the face of labor shortages have some concessions been made (and they can be un-made just as fast), but many labourers still face sexual and other violence, unsafe working conditions, low pay, and get killed when they speak up. Unions provide the most effective way to take the fangs out of the power of an employer.
What? Gas and oil executives aren't the best protectors of the environment Mother Nature could ever ask for? What a shock:)
Anyone would immediately realize that such a committee would sacrifice most of the environment to increase profits. Not at first perhaps, but when pressure is getting higher they most certainly would choose profit over planet. And Herman Cain knows this - he's not entirely stupid. But in all likelihood he'd probably profit as well: you get more donations from rich people when you make sure they get even more money in return. Call it whatever you want, but when someone is selling out everyones birthright in order to increase profit for a few, I'll call that corrupt.
Let's turn this around: if the state is the corporations, then are the corporations not the state?
"If we take Moscow," he said, "with its 4,700 Communists in responsible positions, and if we take the huge bureaucratic machine, that gigantic heap, we must ask: who is directing whom? I doubt very much whether it can be truthfully said that the Communists are directing that heap. To tell the truth, they are not directing, they are being directed." - Lenin
In other words, it wouldn't be the first time that this would happen.
I think the Chinese bureaucrats are quite numerous, but not as big as the corporations. Often, they *are* the corporations. So who is doing exactly what? To separate government and companies in this case is silly: it's not a question of big government, or big oil, or big banking: it's a question of an entire layer of people organizing a state to do their bidding, and to hell with the 99% of citizens who aren't at the top - whether in a corporation or as bureaucrat.
I say that, even if the Chinese government does the same thing as the Russian government, and suddenly declare themselves to be capitalist (which is merely a de jure pronouncement of the de facto situation) and dissolve government, it would not change one iota to the power structure, the pollution, or anything else in China.
The problem is not the exact lay-out of how the ruling class is governing China. Changing that is similar to rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic. The problem is *that* they are the ones governing China. And you can apply that to the US as well.
Taiwan is outsourcing a LOT of their production to China these days. Just like Philips and other big electronics manufacturers do: they do the marketing, but the creation and assembly is mostly done in China (except where assembly means you can avoid/evade import taxes and put a different sticker on it, like "Made in the USA")
You know, the type of person that works for such companies is a type I've seen before. They tend to surround themselves with similar people: scum that will do anything for a quick buck. People that have such a company on their CV raise a red flag when hiring.
Weeeelll... the fact that the exchange rate is not much higher than it could be for Northern Europe is actually keeping the economy afloat in that region. They're basically using Greece as a currency anchor. If they didn't have Greece, people would be pointing at them and say "Oooh you're artificially lowering the value of your currency" and they'd also need to pay a lot of money to intervene in the currency markets (which is risky and costly). If China was smart (and it it was politically viable), they'd split off Tibet, then form a new union with it and let Tibet raise massive debts to give everyone their own palace. A bit pricey, but as you can see, it's very effective as long as the increased exports outgrow the cost of the upkeep:)
The Swiss are even smarter about it though: they link their currency to the euro through interventions, keeping it low and benefiting from the weakness of the euro (because if they didn't, they wouldn't be able to export *anything* except Rolexes), without having to pay for the Greece, Italian and Spanish deficits.
It made me laugh. I figured it was +4 funny until reading the comments responding to it seriously, and was surprised to find it's +4 interesting. I doubt the author meant to seriously poke fun at Europe. They already have the LHC.
And it shows another sensor that could be added to the radio-connected sensor platform we call mobile phone: temperature sensor. The more sensors, the more interesting stuff people can do with the combined outputs and inputs. Kudos to you for this app.
Now, tbh, i wouldn't know what to use it for so you really need to have some vids with use cases on the front page. Your video of how it works is nice, but only secondary.
So how can I know, before I commit to betting $1,100, whether or not a particular application is going to make money?
I don't know, but if you ever find the answer just tell me. I'd be happy to pay around a million dollars (or any currency of your liking, in cash) for the answer.
Right now, no-one knows for sure. That's why being an entrepreneur is different from being an employee. You can try to stack the odds in your favor, but there will never be guarantees.
Or even worse, because self-signed certs create a lot of alerts in browsers and I even got my mail returned by a certain company when signed with a self-signed cert because it wasn't signed by a trusted CA. Sending them a plain email was ofcourse okay.
I bet China would love to receive them. Any country would. All those deals, all those powerful people - and all in YOUR domain. What a prize. No, the US will never let the UN go, as long as they have some functioning brain cells.
I think someone is just being jealous of the Taj Mahal. Or the Borobudur. Or the pyramids. Someone disagrees with the fact they're not in the US (discounting Vegas and Disneyland).
Which would make the hypocrisy even more blatant, to the point where it becomes increasingly harder to ignore even for people who don't know anything about IP. And just imagine the fun that could be had by pointing Fox News towards such a blatant act of "supporting terrorism by the Obama administration"? Oodles!:)
99% of people outside the US have a lot in common with 99% of the people inside it. It's both our 1% running the governments as their own playground that are the main problem. The whole issue about Palestine is a non-issue. All of the UNESCO funding over the last decade isn't even a drop in the bucket compared to the money given to banks and other companies. 80 million dollar per year? It's not even as much as the bonus for a moderately well-paid banker.

Google Translate strikes again! :)
Best comment of the thread. Everyone else can stop posting now :)
Depends on the size, you get what you pay for even in the both babe field.
Nice Freudian slip of the tongue there, mate :)

"Almost impossible"?
It's a more complicated problem than determining whether the program will halt.
And we all know that's easy because we can see the screen freeze and we have to reboot. Problem solved! Right? Right! :)
For the people not getting this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Halting_problem

You think Obama's administration would survive ignoring that law? Twist it out of shape, maybe - but to ignore it would be unwise.

Call me when you develop brains. Evolution isn't about fish getting up suddenly and deciding to move house.
