I think your slightly missing the point. The reason we are annoyed with the lack of jokes is, not because they were taken out, but because classic jokes were re-writen into Crap. (or as the review says, Jokoid, ie a not so funny version of the joke, ie a non-joke). Would it really kill the movie to add in 4-5 lines of dialouge? No, Would it make the movie ALOT better? Yes. So why didn't they do it? That is why were annoyed. Look the movie is 110 minuites. Lets say they replace all jokoid text and replace it with the orginal dialouge, it would add what, 5-15 minuites? Even add the Guide entry on Earth. 110 minuites to 125 minuites. Is that too long? Can your collective asses not sit for an extra 15 minuites?

Take this one for example, a perfect example of no time loss to make a much better joke. The Whale, falling to earth. The last thing he says is (in the book "I wonder if it will be friends with me". And that replace it with "Hello, Ground!". Why? Could that extra 2 seconds destroy the movie and make it too long? This is a perfect example of murdered adam's monologue. THIS is why we are ticked off, not because things are 'exact' but because they Americanized Wonderful British humour that can be grasped by the average american. (Note, Im an american). On anoher note, they could of just cut out some non-important parts of the story, shortened various sections, removed non-key dialouge and made a 2 hour movie out of the book WITHOUT editing anything. Oh well, thats Hollywood for you.

Not sure, but there must be a reason, people GENERALY dont put up signs like that unless theres a slight, remote possibility of something going bad). The problem is, the unsuspecting computer user, who only looks at websites, reads email, uses AIM and plays Solitare will not understand the fundementals behind the whole argument, because these people are NOT informed about computers and various security involving computers and the internet. (Sasser, code red, NONE of these would of happened if people had the slightest clue). All they hear, if they hear anything at all is the stream of crap comming out of redmond. Why do they only heard this? Because this is all thats reported on, and IMHO, this needs to stop. We as a community need to band together and release, to the wide public counter-spin.

Take this as an example. How many of you have had someone you know, ask you what is the best kind of computer, Dell or Gateway? (or any other major brand of machine-made computers). How many of you have answered, "Build your own, and save your money, it works identicaly, and i'll even build it for you for free". Whats the most typical answer? Ive been running my own bussiness, fixing peoples Dell computers. (Rarely anything else, sometimes old gateways..) and alot of them ask me this same question. Only maybe 1 out of every 20 customers who are seriously going to buy a computer, actualy let me build one, of identical specs (right down to the mouse and keyboard) for more than $400 cheaper, and only ONE, ONE out of 2-4 builds a WEEK in the last 5 years have wanted Linux. Not that i havent tried to get them to use linux, infact i explain to them the benfits of Linux for what they generaly do. And sadly, alot of them HAVE read the crap from Microsoft, (or 'heard' it from someone at 'work')

All in all, yes of course we know Linux is more secure. But its 'US', not the average joe email who doesnt yet understand (or doesnt care to understand) the way computers and security really work. We as a community need to fix this.

Piano is differnt, it uses the same part of the brain, however, if youve ever looked at sheet music for the piano, the right hand plays only (mostly) chords and supporting sounds. Thus it is easier to multitask both hands.

Seriously, the common person really doesnt give two craps about Partitions, package installation, what a 'resoultion' or 'bit depth' is, or any of the normal basic *nix installation process we are all familar with.

Another part they could work on is some sort of 'auto-play' for cds. Alot of people dont know how to access a cd without it being auto-runed. So we need that sort of function in there as well.

There are plenty of very basic things that need to be done on the most basic levels before your auntie jenna will be using Linux to check her email. This is a good step, but more does need to be done.

Last year the printers were hooked up to each members Windows Machine. (No, I didn't set this up, and technicly im not supposed to change it) But recently with increesed adware on the marketing support's computers (i should say one of them, shes an idoit.. anyways) and printers going 'down' due to this single person, the office manager came to me and asked what he could do to stop this from happening. (It has happened almost 10 times this year alone). So i suggested Installing a linux box to handle all the printers. Needless to say, he was extremely skeptical. (Having computer-phobia) So i took another non-priority department, and set them up the way i wanted to see marketing support setup. A few days later, he wanted to see how it worked, so i showed him. At the time, i only had my mandrake cds on me, so i used it. He was extremely impressed about how 'cool' it looked and felt. It wasnt in his words.. 'blocky' (i assume he meant text based) I showed him around the system in general (not a thing about printing though heh) and he fell in love with it after i explained how there isnt any 'adware/spyware' in Linux {At least i dont think there is.. linus help us if the day comes} and how linux itself very rarely crashes. Today i just finished installing Mandrake 10 on his main computer, tomarrow i get to begin converting marketing support. Anyways, Mandrake has always been my personal favorite for computer-newbies/Phobic people, mostly because the install, general 'mandrakness' feel of the system isnt much like tradtional linux . IMHO, its much more graphical in nature, and other more 'common-office-type' people can easily get accustomed to the enviroment. Since your a system admin, also take into account that training new people to work on the new systems may/might/will be easier than on another distro. You also never know if your boss wants to poke around someday, its always nice to let them have their fun. My suggestion for linux: Mandrake My Suggestion in general: FreeBSD FreeBSD however is a whole differnt story =)
