    Your assumption is wrong but this is in fact the way it was sold to the politicians.
    The one and only reason for those bunkers was to keep the people who has the power to order a nuclear strike, alive until they issued that order.
    The food, water and fuel supplies are too small for any real survival, and the whole fucking planet (maybe except Antarktica) would be a radioactive desert in three to five days.
    Just look at the area around Czernobyl if you need an real life example.

    The only real question is why it wasn't decommissioned in the 70's (when ICBMs and subs made getting there from London unlikely) and turned into something else instead of waiting til now.
    Because a normal civilized war (whatever that is) is usually not started with a nuclear strike... the potential risk would have been clear for several hours or even days.
    The reason for decommission is not the 4 min. timeframe caused by the ICBMs and subs, it is the "decommission" of the potential enemy. This kind of installation can not be used when you are fighting against terrorist but only when fighting against a well defined enemy.

    NSA is deeply involved in SeLinux, as far as I remember... and they have btw. forgotten to mention xBSD too... and AIX... and HPUX... and Tru64...

    ...what is so bloody complicated in Linux installation process ?
    I almost daily see those "I tried to install Linux and it was a pain in the ass so I am back on Windows"-posts... I have recently installed SuSE on 3 different IBM servers (all with different types of RAID and/or SAN, wich usually are a pain under Windoze) and on 4 laptops (ThinkPad's and HP) and I did not have any problems.
    I put the Linux CD in the CD-drive, boot, answer some simple questions and it is up and running... why is it working ?? what do I do wrong ???

    I know it's a pain in the ass... so is it on Windows (at least if you want WPA)... you are supposed to do exactly the same thing in Linux as in Windows: check what works BEFORE you buy it. I've looked for a few days and bought a 3Com 3CRPAG175, it works fine under SuSE 9.3... You don't have fancy GUI for WPA but I really don't care as long as it works.
    It is not Linux fault that you can't use an Exchange server, it is Micrsofts fault. Exchange is (imho) a poor replacement for a mail server for people who are unfortunate and MUST use M$ products... but I still can't imagine why a 9 year old geek would need a connection to an Exchange server.
    ...and what I ment by "blow your cover", well, I haven't yet met a geek (in my 40 years of life on this planet) who gives up on a unsolvable problem... that's what make us geeky... but you may of course have a "real life" with cute wife, sweet children and good work so you don't have the time... and that is an excuse I even may accept.. :-)

    A normal PC bios will usually not boot without some kind of display adapter.
    You should instead look at SUN x86 based servers, they do not "need" to be PC-compliant. Other manufacturers have some sexual dependency on the "Designed for Microsoft Windows" label...

    Two of the mentioned browsers are W3C compliant...
    the first one (IE) is not.

    This is a quick fix for your problem:
    Insert following as a sig. in your mail system "Our company do not allow MS-formatted documents due to security problems in MS-formats. All MS-formatted documents sent to us are trashed at the mail gateway.
    Allowed formats: OpenDoc, PDF, TXT and RTF."
    Same text on your website... and an autoresponder from the mailserver: "Your mail for mail@address.here contained a potentially dangerous file and have been trashed. Please send file in one of the allowed formats (OpenDoc, PDF, TXT, RTF)."
    It is not nice but it works... and the mailflow decreases...

    The whole problem is that MSFT software need a MSFT OS and usually also a MSFT browser... and, if it is server software, it would very much like to have MS-IIS and/or MS-SQL server... do I need to keep on ?
    ...and I do know that I can get a MS-Office for a Mac...

    Digital DEC PC4100XL supported in this way:
    • Intel 486
    • Intel Pentium 60 & 66
    • Intel Pentium 75 and up
    • Intel Pentium Pro
    • DEC Alpha

    Compaq used same approach in:
    • DeskPro XL
    • SystemPro XL
    • some ProSignia
    • ProLiant 2000

    ...there has allways been several problems with this solution:
    • price of daughterboard were at least as high (and often higher) as new mobo.
    • a full reinstall of OS and app's is often needed
    • daughterboards and a set with the CPU (it has not been cost-effective)
    • there has been problems with the CPU cooler

    The only cheap and working solutions were the cpu converter sockets, f.ex. from a Pentium II slot to Pentium III socket.

    ...and the IP-address space has allready been "segregated" afaik...
    ...so your boss will not be able to surf blacksonblondes.com but you will probably still be on slashdot... at 66.35.250.151
    ...and that is the worst possibilyty.
