  1. Re:I use Koss PortaPros... on Headphones in Corporate Culture? · · Score: 1

Personally, I think the PortaPros are the best headphones for the money, hands down. I tested them side-by-side with my friend's PX-100s before I bought my own pair, and they blow the PX-100s away, in my opinion.

  2. More Danger than Good on No More Internet Anonymity · · Score: 1

If you could figure out a way to intercept the data on someone else's chip and hack your own chip to encode that information into it (or make some kind of chip emulator), then this idea is fuckz0red. Bad idea.

What about altering the ISO speed, which most digital cameras can do instantly? It's not that hard to buy faster film.

  4. Yeah. but... on Wikipedia Founder Sees Serious Quality Problems · · Score: 1

If you go to any university's library, get five books on any even remotely obscure subject, then you'll likely find that each one contradicts the others in some areas. The problem with Wikipedia is not with its user-run method, but that all written history is inherently prone to factual errors.

  5. Um... on The Future of Videogame Aesthetics · · Score: 2, Insightful

Videogame graphics are a form of art. Like other forms of art, they reflect the vision of the artist and the tastes of the patron--in this case, the graphic designer and target audience of the game. Like other forms of art, there will be visual and stylistic trends, but always some great individual works.
As technology advanced in other forms of art, the ability of the artist to transform artistic vision into a medium has increased, stylistic variety has increased and (arguably) the tastes of patrons has increased. Think about how many genres of music there are. Think about how many instruments. Think about the variety of painting styles. All of this variety was made possible by technological advances. Is there any reason to think it'll be any different for video games?

  6. Re:Politicians don't want free speech. on Bloggers Not Eligible for Shield Law? · · Score: 1

First off, let me say that I support free speech. I think that censorship is almost always bad, but there are also certain things which a society, any society, cannot allow to be disseminated, in print, online, or otherwise. Each society must decide what these few things are and suppress them. Censorship is hard, as you can't censor people's thoughts and feelings. You can't censor word of mouth. Censorship is almost always abused but login to freenet and you'll see that there are some things which are better unprinted.
