When I said we don't know what the word love means...
well, please describe it for me. Tell me what love means, to you. Go ahead and use the dictionary if you like.
To love someone first I think we need to understand what it is. Then apply that knowledge. But here's the question. Assuming Americans understand the word who do you think they love? Their family? Their friends? Their neighbors? Their country? Humanity and the world?
I think most Americans have a hard time loving their children.
I think the very concept of a minority is wrong. It implies that there are different groups of people. If we are all human, all the same race, then doesn't this sort of rhetoric lead to segregation and discrimination, even subconsciously?
Its doubtful the jury is concerned about their kids, but the thought of someone using DeCSS to break into their house and steal their property. That's cause for concern.
What fascinates me is how we use money and expensive first class resorts to help educate our judges about our capitalist legal system. 5 years ago I didn't know anything about my country. Now I know too much.
Perhaps, but I will comment about the Nazi's attempting to wipe out an entire race.
To the Nazi's the Jews were a separate and different race of people. It is important to understand what is meant whenever someone says "race". They mean that the differences in our appearances is enough for them to classify us as being different species. There is no scientific basis for this classification yet it has been used throughout history and is still in use today.
Whenever you think of someone else as being a different race you are dehumanizing them. And I think that is more of a crime against humanity than any amount of copyright.
I also think money and the excuse we make surrounding it that allow hundreds of thousands of people, humans, to die is far worse than the effects of copyright.
I just wish we'd hurry up and kill all the people we can't afford to help so we don't have to see them on TV anymore.
Us Linux users have witnessed the capitalist conspiracy first hand. And its not just these two. Almost every major corporation is in the business to make money and at the expense of anything that threatens their profits. It will be interesting to see how many of these oligopolies team up to fight against OSS in an attempt to maintain control over their consumers.
We all know they will lose. But it will take a very long time for them to eventually run out of money. Because I seriously doubt the voting public would make any attempt to build a system without capitalism, money or the motivation of greed.
In fact I don't think 99.999% of Americans are intelligent enough to accomplish such a task, even if they could agree on something for a change.
Why do we think we're authoritative over our domain? Why do we join groups and believe in religion or a political party? Why do we conform? Why do we care about national sports?
Why do we value human life? Why don't we value it more than property and technology and money? Why do we accept the loss of innocent life post 9/11 when the loss of 3000 innocent Americans was enough to provoke two or three wars? Does the value of an American life outweigh than of another? Are humans created equal?
Why do we think we were created by The God? Why do we think he exists? Isn't the question irrelevent? Why does it matter if Jesus ever existed or not?
Why don't we cooperate and work together to solve our problems? Why are we always opposed to eachother on the most trivial issues? Why don't we listen to our kids? Why is the sky grey?
Why do we think we are intelligent?
I think most Americans don't even know what the word love really means.
You lost a few $$ so you think its of equal value to ruin the future of one person because we cost you money?
We have but one lifetime to live. Often our punishment for the loss of property do not fit the crime. But that's why you and everone else I know think that capitalism, not communism, is the right way to live.
If that is what you believe then I would only ask one thing of you. Please cut the hand off of someone who stole from you. Do it sometime. By yourself. Just once. And tell me you still think your property is worth more than another human's freedom.
I just want people to stop being hypocrites for one fucking minute and admit that they value their car and their TV sets more than they care about their neighbor and their children. Come on, you know it. You're going to kick those kids out as soon as they turn 18 so you can have a bigger TV or a nice new car. C'mon, admit it. Hypocrite!
trashed the hosting company's reputation
Perhaps most of you capitalists don't deserve the reputation your marketting department advertises.
Want to know what is important? Life. Time. Things you will understand one day, when it is too late.
Oh, your mind boggles so easily. I bought a 7x00 series card and did my research. But decided that compiling the gatos drivers just to get the analog A/V features of my cards working was not worth the effort. And I would lose DRI compatibility. So I went to Fry's and grabbed an nVidia. Now I'm happy.
If you bought the card to use in Linux and didn't take the time to research the driver situation then you really have nobody to blame but yourself now do you?
Exactly. So why, again, should anyone listen to you?
I'm recommending they stay away from ATI until ATI supports their own products so we don't have to deal with the frustration of juggling source code or compiling drivers to test if we can get some of the features working. I have yet to see a feature complete Linux driver for any of their products.
Idiocy would be to rush out and buy an ATI All in Wonder card after reading your post. The only features you might be able to get working are 2D and 3D acceleration, if you're lucky.
BTW, did you browse to the links you copied into your reply? There was never a mention of the 9800 series cards. So what makes you think ATI supports Linux with binary drivers? The fact that they at one time released a binary driver that's compatible with XFree86 4.3.x?
I bought like 5 ATI 7x00 cards and got maybe one of them to work. The rest are worthless POSs until XFree86 improves their drivers. I don't trust that ATI cares about this market and I will never buy one of their cards again.
Don't reply unless you can find a driver that enables the same features as the Win2k/XP drivers. If not then just accept that ATI doesn't support Linux yet.
I can't believe you got modded up. Stupid moderators.
yeah, I read somewhere that most of the performance gain on the x86 side would come from the additional registers. But a well-designed RISC CPU wouldn't have as much to gain as the poorly-designed CISC architecture.
Its amazing there are so many companies with CEOs and execs that went through many many more years of business management school than I ever want to take that just can't seem to understand a simply software license.
Does that mean we're smarter than these executives? I think so.
I like the thought of suing companies for trespassing on my private property with their private radio transmissions.
I want to the FCC to made all radio signals private property so I can sue every radio station, police station, local TV, my neighbor and her noisy telephone, etc.
Hey, maybe we can declare all audio and electromagnetic transmissions private property so if you say something that offends me I can sue you, if it trespasses into my ear.
I think we should make a set of laws so everyone can sue everyone else. Then just sit back and watch the people line up outside the courthouse. Maybe we could make our legal system a profitable marketplace where you can purchase a new law to help you sue for more money, at a fair price, of course.:)
The learning curve to become a mainframe expert from a linux expert is probably going to be a lot less than that of an NT admin. A lot of the concepts should be very similar.
Actually I hope they reelect Bush or don't put up a fight when he makes some deals to take another 4 years of office.
Its quite sad, in fact its an atrocity to think how we have changed everyone's lives in America because 3000 of us died from a terrorist attack that would have never been successful if we cared more about the safety of our customers than the money it would cost us to put a lock on a door. But 3000 of us die every week on our highways. Do we morn for years for all those innocent deaths? Do we even hear about them on the News anymore? No, because terrorism is far more important right now. Terrorism keeps us pacified while our government is in action implementing God knows what.
Its a good things we're killing all these terrorists to protect our way of life. It would be a shame if our way of life was taken over by terorrists. They'd most certainly enslave us.
I love how we can so easily label people as being a threat to society today. Did you know that mobile terrorist labs could be driving through a countryside right now on semi trucks? Yeah, its true, the government said terorrists use these mobile labs to make their weapons of mass destruction. And they could be anywhere. Anyone could be a terrorist. Are you a terrorist?
The only weapons of mass destruction I know of are the weapons we sold those terrorists in the Talibon and Iraq a few years ago. I sure hope we made off like bandits to pay for all the human life.
In fact I would go so far as to say Americans think the life of an innocent American is worth at least twice the value of some innocent person in Afghanistan or Iraq. Judging them by their recent actions.
Hey, at least we're getting better. A decade ago we'd kill half a million of you without blinking an eye.
When I said we don't know what the word love means...

Memory is a tool for piracy. Let's force everyone to take drugs that disable the hypocampus whenever we encounter copyrighted information.
I think the very concept of a minority is wrong. It implies that there are different groups of people. If we are all human, all the same race, then doesn't this sort of rhetoric lead to segregation and discrimination, even subconsciously?
We are human and we are the majority.

You fall into that 99.999%
Perhaps, but I will comment about the Nazi's attempting to wipe out an entire race.

AOLTW? They're not that smart.
Hell yeah. You rock!
And if they trespass on my property I'd shoot 'em.
God Bless Capitalism! Yeehaw
That you're normal. :)
Oh, that's nice.

Maybe this is a good arguement for open source drivers? Afterall I'm paying for the hardware.
Idiocy would be to rush out and buy an ATI All in Wonder card after reading your post. The only features you might be able to get working are 2D and 3D acceleration, if you're lucky.

Now they're left in the cold. I wonder what they're gonna do.
What? Capitalists lying to make profits? No! Say it ain't so..
I'll tell you what they're going to do. They're going to continue being mindless consumers paying for whatever has the most pretty packaging.
I just wonder why these people are still in charge of making purchasing decisions for any corporation in this economy.
We should know exactly where everything is at all times, including the missles. But that's military intelligence for ya.
Also any way you stack it a 32-bit instruction or a 64-bit instruction is still just one operation.
