I agree with you wholeheartedly. Another trend I've noticed is people for some reason keep criticizing Bush, Cheney, and the various other people who run this country. And yet they *still live here! Hopefully Patriot Act 2.0 will take care of this problem.

How does your line of reasoning deal with the "or its parents, affiliates and subsidiaries" language? If you continue using AT&T "service" you obviously shouldn't be allowed to express negative things about any of the other companies they do business with.
"My own favorites were Cuba voting "yes" to the fast-tracking of OOXML, even though Microsoft is prohibited by the US Government from selling any software on the island that might even be able to read and write the new format, and Azerbaijan's "yes" vote, even though OOXML as defined isn't able to express a Web URL address in Azeri, their official language."
I might rant too if a reporter did so little research as to ask rms these questions: "What do you think about intellectual property?" "People use terms like "free software" and "open source" as if they were the same thing. Is that right?" "People used to call Linux a synonym for GNU,... But they are not the same thing, are they?"
I love the monthly new-years-resolutions to work harder at/invest more in interoperability. It's actually not that difficult. Have most of your apps spit out strings of text in some documentable (or, ideally, document*ed) format and basically voila! What's difficult is having interoperability without actually having it. In fact, I suspect they could research that until doomsday.
"Kill the elephant. Let's kill him," the crowd began chanting. Later, Sheriff Gallahan "knocked chips out of her hide a little" with his.45, according to witness Bud Jones. But the circus manager stated, "There ain't gun enough in this country that he could be killed"; another approach would have to be attempted."
Is it that hard to find a link to the actual file? I've just spent all morning visiting interesting-looking media links only to find that the site doesn't like my version of javascript or flash or both.
"It's amusing how it has went from people defending copying on the basis: "some people wouldn't have bought it anyways" to it now being the absolute "pirates wouldn't have bought it anyways"."
It hasn't, um "went" from anything to anything. It was always the case that about 2% of downloads actually represent a "lost sale". And it was always the case that this is more than made up for by the other 98%, who now have heard a CD they wouldn't otherwise have heard. And make their friends aware of it. And their friends often buy the disc or otherwise support the artist they wouldn't otherwise have heard of.

I'm not sure I like the new and glorious tiered internet world to which AT&T and Verizon are inviting us
Isn't the Internet made of 25mm tubes to nowhere?
Google doesn't have the bomb, do they? I'm pretty sure Disney does...

I didn't know SCO made breathalizers.
huh? Natural selection seems pretty straightforward to me.
They axed "Get the Fucts" because they kept getting black eyes from biased research that bordered on fraudulent advertising.
The important question is, can little people use it to rob Napoleon and Sean Connery and others?
"if you read what some people post in all seriousness here ... "
Hence the sadness.
Sad Times are these... when
1. passing ruffians can say `nee' at will to old women
2. the sarcasm in my post is not obvious as all hell.

What're we supposed to do? Tell *everyone (including possibly terrorists and enemy combatants) about every little nuclear accident we ever have?
hence the Ron Paul campaign.

anyone ever compared power usage (say, per flop) advances to the power usage (per mile) advances of our innovative combustion engine indutry?
Would it be *that hard to get a little "regime change" going in Russia. I mean, c'mon it's been a few years now.
