    You are a conscious consumer, obviously, but I fail to see the point where you either criticize Apple or approve Apple in relation to the topic. The legal rights of Apple are not in question. The extend of pursuing them is.

    In simple terms, does this whole story affect you in any way from buying Apple products in the future ?

    Fine.

    I'm having a problem understanding what you mean by "holding a company's feet to the fire when they step over the line" in the context of this article which deals with 2 hackers being cut off because of jailbreaking, when you justify Apple by stating that "even then" they have "every right" to do so.

    I understand the point of each sentence separated, but in the same paragraph I do not.

    I'm using Linux (Slackware) but not as a generic-purpose OS as XP. The problem with Mint (and Ubuntu) is that it is much slower on older systems than XP and doesn't offer the same level of compatibility.

    I am considering upgrading my systems to go to a full Mint installation, but the problem is the landfill I can't justify the landfill.

    Does it still have this drawing resizing bug ?
    Is it possible to see paragraph, character and list/numbering styles at the same pane ?
    Does it support the ALT key for shortcuts ?
    Does it still claim to require Java to run ?
    Does it have table styles ?
    Does it still paste OLE objects as GDI metafiles by default instead of their native application type (eg. Smartdraw), which means you can no longer edit them ?
    Do I still have to set colors at the options instead of the built-in Windows color palette ? And when I change computer my colors lose their names ?

    They do but nVidia doesn't seem to be paying much attention to it. I had to enable this myself on my 8800GTS, using video memory as a measure.

    I do trust Paypal. In fact all my donation to open source programmers have been made through paypal and I've had zero problems with it.

    I consider paypal a solution, not a perfect one but better than none, to a badly conceived and totally insecure credit numbering system.

    Or just ignore Ubuntu and install XP + Openoffice or Office 2003. I am producing documents for my work from a netbook with an external monitor and a Unicomp keyboard on Openoffice right now.

    Feels like a full-fledged computer to me.

    Google docs ? Why should I depend on the Internet for all my work ?

    ClearType had plenty of prior art, so I don't think it counts as significant innovation.

    TabletPC wasn't just a "me too" project, Microsoft actually actively sabotaged their competitors to drive them out of the market and then tried to grab the market for themselves (and failed).

    What are you talking about ?

    So, if these are the kinds of "promising innovative technologies" that fail at Microsoft, let's just all say "good riddance".

    Actually it's a reason to stop using a 14-year old browser-OS embedding approach, insecure by design, and switch to Firefox, whatever the operating system. That's the best way to keep you secure on the web.

    As for the OS, use the fastest and combine it with a good antivirus and a HIPS firewall.

    Which is the fastest OS ?

    This claim cites Wikipedia and in particular this unverifiable, POV-ridden paragraph:

It was declared malware by Beijing Network Industry Association() and San Ji Wu Xian Co Ltd., the company behind 360 Safeguard(360), an anti-virus software. San Ji Wu Xian was sued by CNNIC for 150,000 RMB and the court ruled out favorably towards CNNIC."

    Which libels CNNIC for connections with malware while the only case against CNNIC was actually ruled towards their favor.

    Why is CNNIC untrustworthy ? In plain English please.
