    I would be worried if my mom or a cab driver was talking about 'web 2.0', but hardly anyone in our technical group ever mentions it (the cab driver and mom have no idea what it is).

    Yes, we talk about ajax but that's about it.

    Another thing that contributed to the bubble was the Y2K business drying up. All of those people and money had to go somewhere.

    Not really. The margins will be so poor on transistors in the 100$ laptop there will be no way to justify the R&D and new fabs for the shrink. Keep in mind that most technology follows an S-curve. I tend to think that we are close to the second bend.

    I hate where ebay has gone and the less gray market junk the better. I go there to get unusual things I can't get anywhere else. Why would I risk getting screwed on ebay if I can just buy something from a discount retailer? If gray market retailers get shut out it would eliminate many of the scummy dealers that run the place now.

    I would of gone crazy years ago if I tried to commit everything to memory. I remember where I figured out to do something, or what project I did something (in my code library)

    I hate living and working in a big city. Many times developers are forced to go for the big salaries because it is the only way they can afford to live there(city).

    If these companies want to really attract talent, they should modernize and get people who can video conference and work over the net, even from other states. Many of us are outdoors types and don't like living or working in a big city. I would kill for a job like that.

    Not to mention the R&D to create the phone, write the software, and create a new business unit to manage and market the device. The money has to come from somewhere.

    Supposing humanity does enter some sort of biological/technological/war Armageddon, and 80% of the Earth's population is killed. Does this mean the end of humanity? There are still over a billion people left on earth.
