Washington state already has a very successful program called Running Start that is very similar to this proposal. Starting their junior year, high schoolers are allowed to attend a community college instead of (or in addition to) their local high school, all paid for by public school funding. I had the great opportunity to participate in a program at my local CC called Ocean Research College Academy. ORCA gave me the opportunity to earn my Associates Degree while I finished high school (with college courses standing in as equivalents for high school requirements), all while having actual scientific research experience. Heck, recently they started maintaining an underwater monitoring station for the State Department of Ecology.

Of course, there's the concern that students doing this may be brain-smart, but might lack the emotional and social skills gained in a high school environment. Some of my own family made that concern clear to me when I applied for this program. However, because of the nature of ORCA (where students have to make an effort to apply and be accepted), the students there were predominantly highly-motivated and socially capable.
Anyway, I got a terrific education, earned an AA degree while I was still in high school, and got 2 years of tuition paid for by the public school system. Also I made some awesome friends.
You can do that with Firefox. In any version older than the 3.0 betas, make a new bookmark that has (I think) %s where the search term would go in a URL, and add your trigger word as the keyword for the bookmark. Then you do
For 3.0 and newer, instead of a keyword, use a tag. At least, that's how it works for me.

What about the burned one? Couldn't we just copy that one? Sure, it would slow the process somewhat, and the quality might diminish over time, but it would still work, right?

Is anyone out there legalistic enough to be able to write a good form letter?
Just leave blanks for our name, and our Representative/Senator's name. Then we each print off a few (I would need three, but Californians need ~60 or so, I think), customize them, and send 'em off! I would do it!
Quite the resume, isn't it? Invented the internet, internet tv, the Al-Gore-ithm, and ran for the presidency and lost just because of a few Floridians!
The only problem is that we'll be getting a lot more crappy movies out there that idiotic people made one groggy saturday morning, thought it would be funny to show it to the whole world, and then post it on their geocities website.
and then there will be the special movies, which people actually plan, work on, fix up, re-film, and add special effects to that end up being better than a lot of the movies in theaters (as in content, not looks. Looks you can buy, but content is priceless). Out of the thousands of movies in the mentioned scenario, only about 4 to 5 will be of this quality, maybe more if people catch on that only the good movies are watched.
